1 week old baby - lump found in auxiliary breast tissue

I do post on here a lot I changed my name for this.

I had a baby 1 week ago and when I had a check up from the community nurse I showed her a large lump under my arm pit, there are also some large hard 'nubs' in the same armpit. The large lump does look like auxiliary breast tissue when I google pictures. She got me into the GP that day. They GP said it was very unusual looking so she has referred me to the national breast clinic she also put me on a course of antibiotics.

It is very tender and sore to the touch but not as sore as it was 2 days ago.

I suppose I have heard the words lump and breast in the same sentence and I'm worried.

I am breastfeeding my baby so the GP has said I should hopefully be seen soon. I am in Ireland BTW.

It's making me feel a bit nervous/ worried even though I keep saying to DH I am sure it's nothing. Just under arm boob that's swelled from being pregnant

Anyone any experience of this?

I am sorry you have this worry. I had a blocked milk duct when DS was a baby so my first thought was that it could be something like that?

Was the blocked duct in your arm pit? It's possible.

I breast fed my 1st child for a year and got blocked ducts. In my actual boob

I had this - I’d always had a lump in one arm pit (think they said it was a node?). And when I was breast feeding in the early weeks it swelled and became painful. I was nervous as we have a family history of breast cancer. Hospital cancer team did an ultrasound scan with a wand of the area and said they couldn’t see anything to worry about and that it would likely decrease on its own, as the swelling was likely due to the milk/feeding. It did, although I can’t remember how long it took now, sorry. Always worth you getting checked out though just in case - Hope you get a scan soon.

Thank you that is a relief to hear. The GP said because I'm a bf mum I should be seen quickly but who knows what quickly means! Going by the website it says urgent appointments are usually with 20 days but regular ones take 4 to 6 months.

Guess I need to put it out of my mind

I’m in Wales and my GP marked it as urgent (not sure if that was because of family cancer history or being a breastfeeding Mum) and I got an appointment through within a few weeks I think. Hope it is the same for you in Ireland🤞

It’s hard to put it out of your mind I know, but you’ve done all you can, asking to get it checked Flowers You might even find you get lucky and the pain/swelling eases some before the appointment comes through (which it might if it is milk related) - I’d still get it the area looked at though, better safe than sorry and all that.

I have an appointment for the 20th I think that's pretty quick going, I only saw the GP late Tuesday afternoon.
