I don't think you're supposed to use the fanola at every wash. I like elvive for colour treated hair and then use a purple shampoo when I think it needs it

I use Loreal professional shampoo, either Blondifier gloss or the pink vitamin one. Their products smell devine and last a long time, you only need to use a pea size amount once/twice per wash. Worth the pennies. I tend to order via look fantastic, they always have discounts on.

Purple shampoo once a week, leave on for 5 mins

I use matrix Color shampoo and fanola once a week. It’s expensive buying all three at once but the matrix lasts about 3 months and the fanola 6-7 months so it doesn’t work out too bad

Kerastase Blond Ultra Violet. So good.

I use the bling shampoo in a gold tube type bottle, it's about Β£4 per shampoo / conditioner if on offer from standard larger supermarkets. Mine is naturally blonde though (with added greys, all natural Grin)

Ah ok thanks all!

I’ve used them all. Currently using John Freida blonde shampoo and conditioner, it’s really nice. Also, she can get a toner done if the blonde starts to dull too. I usually get a toner and olaplex treatment done inbetween appointments to give me freshen up.

I second John Frieda blonde shampoo and conditioner. I have naturally blonde hair and it keeps it so.

Sorry being silly, can we buy a toner or does that mean a trip back to the hair dressers in between dyes x

Not silly at all. I do sometimes do my own toner, but I have a background in hairdressing (not that’s it’s particularly complicated to apply toner) but best to find out the colour and strength of the peroxide the hairdresser uses before purchasing.

I guess she could watch some videos about mixing/measurements and application method if this is something she wants to try herself.

Otherwise, most hairdressers (esp mobile) will do this for around Β£20-Β£30. My hair dulls very quickly, so I’ll usually do a toner on week three and highlights on week 6 or 7. Blonde is maintenance, especially for someone with a dark natural base.

However, depending on the hair, purple shampoo/conditioner may work well to maintain a nice colour. See how she gets on with that first and the toner option is there if needed.

If you buy that shampoo from the first post, get a decent conditioner to match as that particular shampoo makes your hair feel rough as hell when you’re washing it. The matching conditioner makes it lovely and soft and smells fab!

I used to have Fanola, it smells bloody awful. I use Olaplex 4P and their normal conditioner.

GachaBread · 09/08/2024 02:12

I have loads of unopened and new bottles of John frieda blonde shampoo, if anyone wants them feel free to PM and we can discuss a reasonable price
