Premier inn that fits these requirements

Ok I’m looking for a premier inn 18th to 20th August but can be abit flexible with dates as it’s just a sightseeing trip

i have an autistic child and a mother who struggles with walking coming with me. Have a blue badge for child. Premier inn rather than other hotels as we’ve stayed in them before and they tend to be quite similar so ds ok with that. I want either somewhere that has parking but within a close walking distance to a tube station/ train station or we could possibly come by train into Euston but then would need someone near as it’s too much dragged child, mum and luggage across London on transport. Coming from the north. We’ve stayed at London Wembley a few times and parked there and it was ideal but it is Taylor swift those days so a no go. I’ve stayed in Uxbridge before also with just child but the walk to station is prob just abit long for mum if we are adding in walking round London in day too although we could probably get an uber so that’s a definite possibility, any other ideas from knowledgeable people? Ideally somewhere where parking is not so limited that there’s a chance we won’t get any, as ds panics if we can’t get parking and have to drive around and it adds to the stress

She’s had a knee replacemnt so quite slow and can’t stand for too long. Realistically no more the a usual persons 5 to 10 min walk as it will take us double, plus we have the same walking in day to also consider

You are probably ok with the Euston Road Premier Inn then? Its always my first choice in London for convenience at Euston

Tuyouyou · 08/08/2024 10:24

I would steer clear of premier inn. I stayed with my asd child. The wardrobe had a faulty shelf and my child managed to get tripped over by it. Their foot was badly bruised and had the skin peeled off. The Premier inn said they couldn't help and I to email their head office but it took them over a month to respond. This situation has proved they don't implement their good night guarantee policy. The customer care is dreadful.

WeWillGetThereInTheEnd · 08/08/2024 10:32

We’ve stayed in the Premier Inn at St Pancras and Farringdon. Both were perfectly ok. We went by train to St Pancras; and found a cheaper car park online for Farringdon - someone’s empty yard basically! Maybe there was a train strike or something that day, because Farringdon is just the next stop after St Pancras?

Kings Cross PI is right across the (side) road from the station and has a lot of rooms facing the internal "courtyard" so quiet. Had the best cup of tea there I had in years. It's a 2 min bus ride from Euston and has easy access to Tube and buses - we took a direct bus to South Bank. There's a Maccy Ds at the end of the street which greatly pleased my dd.

Came on as using Premier Inns a lot with wheelchair user relative. If walking an issue, would your Mum use a wheelchair for touring round? My relative initially reluctant but now realises how much more she can do with occasional use of a wheelchair when out and about.

loudbatperson · 08/08/2024 10:53

There is a Premier Inn literally opposite Uxbridge tube station. It doesn't have its own car park but there are several car parks very near you can use/book. You could always drop your mum off outside and then park if needed.

Just searched it’s booked for when we want to go that’s why I hadn’t picked it up in my original search, shame

She’s not really that bad to be honest just finds it abit of a struggle as she had a knee replacement about 6 months ago and apparently it can take up to a year to get full use so she wants to keep as active as possible.

@Morph22010

Where are you hoping to go in London? Is there anything one of you would really love to see/visit?

We have Merlin passes so just will do the eye, shrek , sea life and dungeons and then just a general wander and sight see. The main one is the London dungeons but we’ll be fine travelling across London on tube with no luggage, if we stay near there I’d have to drag luggage from station with a child thst won’t do lifts

In that case, I would suggest this Premier Inn as the best one for you.

Was going to recommend Wembley but saw your update.

Try Canary Wharf next to Westferry DLR. The entrance is opposite the station (on same pavement). I think there is a lift at the station. Not sure about parking situation as I use the tube / DLR.

It's really nice, the staff are very friendly. If you were okay leaving your DS and Mum together then Canary Wharf is about a 5-10 min walk away and it has loads of food options and a couple of supermarkets (it's very busy and noisy in that area).

Don't be tempted by any of the PI pod hotels. They are okay for business travellers but not with an ASD child (I have ASD and have stopped staying in them because the room controls are awful - can't get the room the right temp no matter how much you mess with it, also they look totally different inside).

Thanks but I know about that one and it’s not what I’m looking for as there is no parking or if we came by train we’d have to then drag the luggage across London by tube which is what I’m trying to avoid, want somewhere either within walking distance of Euston or with parking near a tube station. Once we have left the luggage I don’t mind travelling by tube/train to get to the attractions. Lots of other suggestions so we’ll prob go with one of the docklands ones.

You wouldn't need to drag any luggage anywhere, though. If you hop in a taxi at Euston, it will whizz you down across the river and you'll be there.

My concern about the Docklands ones is that they involve extra walking for your Mum and are some distance from the particular venues you want to visit.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 10/08/2024 10:06

If Taylor Swift is in town then I think choose different dates! Everywhere will be booked/rammed!

Aah sorry missed a vital piece of info, son won’t go in taxis just refuses point blank for some unknown reason, even with advance warning

I’m a wheelchair user. If the Euston PI is booked for your dates check if the the st pancras one is. You can stand out the bar entrance of the Euston PI and see the main entrance of the St P one.

Otherwise I reckon Stratford PI is a good bet. It’s about two minutes walk (if that) from Stratford International where you can get mainline trains or DLR. It’s right next to Westfield which has parking, Waitrose is just inside that door to westfield for any drinks or bits you need

I’ve stayed at all three of those and they were fine.

Going off topic, are you aware of the step free tube guide and the avoiding stairs guide both done by TFL? They might be helpful. If you ask station staff you can also request assistance on your journey. Maybe useful if your Mum is unsteady to have staff assist and let you focus on DS.

JackJarvisEsq · 10/08/2024 15:05

Sorry I can’t help with that but I can thoroughly recommend the Preston Premier Inn 👌🏻

Morph22010 · 10/08/2024 20:50

Thanks for all the comments I’ve ended up booking Stratford. Euston road, St Pancras and country hall were all full on dates we wanted. On reflection I decided it was better to drive than get train from home to London as they we can play in by ear on final day as to what time we leave depending on how they are

@MsBubbles85 I would say exactly that- it's quite a smart one and tube is 1 minute away at Belsize Park and has a car park -
