Apparently the only and right way to eat a meal is all your least favourite part, then neutral, then favourite last e.g peas, chips, fish. 😵
I think its normal to eat a bit of fish a few peas then a chip etc

Favourite first in case you can’t finish. I don’t want to miss out on the good stuff, or won’t enjoy it as much if feeling too full.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/08/2024 04:55

My friend laughs at me, for eating one thing at a time!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/08/2024 04:56

Definitely best till last. Unless it's steak and really good chips. Then it's difficult to decide.

Luddite26 · 08/08/2024 05:28

Freak here too.

RobinHumphries · 08/08/2024 05:35

Team DH

DisforDarkChocolate · 08/08/2024 05:50

I mix it up because no one wants their last bite to be sub-par because it's cooled down. Heat loss order for me.

TheBigStrawberry · 08/08/2024 06:09

Team PrincessHoneysuckle all the way! I'll eat a bit of everything (usually on the same fork).

To take one of my favourite meals - salmon, buttered rice and stir fried vegetables. The vegetables are my "least favourite" but I'll have a mouthful of rice with veg, then a mouth of salmon with rice, then maybe all three. I do follow the DH philosophy for the salmon though - the thin end is far and away superior in taste and texture to the thick end so I always start at the thick end and work my way down to the thin end. I won't necessarily leave the thin bit of salmon as the very last thing on my plate though.

HereForTheFreeLunch · 08/08/2024 06:24

Team Dh untill I got full halfway through the meal!

Ladida01 · 08/08/2024 06:26

Team PrincessHoneysuckle all the way! I'll eat a bit of everything. Team DH is very strange and I have never heard of this before. Amazing how many people do this!

SamQuint · 08/08/2024 06:31

I used to save the best until last until a friend pointed out it wasn't good for weight loss, basically you're going to keep eating even if you're already full because you want to get to your favourite part of the meal.

CurlewKate · 08/08/2024 06:53

Why would you put things you don't like on your plate in the first place?

And if you do-why would you let the best bits get cold? The stuff you don't like will still be bad whether it's hot or cold...

RampantIvy · 08/08/2024 06:59

I tend not to cook things I dislike. I love vegetables so I am with you. A little bit of everything all through the meal.

gnatgnu · 08/08/2024 07:24

Wow! I genuinely thought my DH was a freak for eating this way!! Seems like I’m actually the weird one 🤪

Berga · 08/08/2024 07:29

Team DH! And don't let the baked beans touch it all whilst you're at!

PonyPatter44 · 08/08/2024 07:32

I used to be Team DH, Eat The Frog, all that stuff. Why? Because my mother made us clear our plates, so I'd have to eat the bit I didn't like anyway, so might as well get it out of the way first, then enjoy eating the nice bit.

I'm on Mounjaro now, which limits the amount I eat, so I am training myself into the habit of eating the nice bit first. It's a bit weird.

itsgettingweird · 08/08/2024 07:47

Team DH.

Unless it's a roast 8n which case as many different bits if it all on every fork full 😂

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 08/08/2024 07:49

I used to save my favourite until last but I think it contributed to weight gain because you always clear your plate even if you were satiated before that point!

Yupdowop · 08/08/2024 09:34

I think people who grow up in massive families often eat the best bit first, lest a little sibling starts eyeing up your fish like ‘are you eating that?’

murasaki · 08/08/2024 10:32

Depends on the meal, fishbchips and mushy peas, a bit of everything. Otherwise I'm with DH.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 08/08/2024 14:07

Nesbi · 07/08/2024 23:12

Team PrincessHoneysuckle - it think it would feel a bit weird to me to compartmentalise my food and treat each thing separately, rather than treating it as a one single thing.

Exactly

Mostly Team DH but with the odd sneak preview of the good stuff. The last bite must be the best bite and will be specifically saved for that purpose!

Fellsbells · 08/08/2024 15:10

This thread has blown my mind. Surely the mix of flavours and textures make everything taste better?

MeAgainAndAgain · 08/08/2024 15:13

Team DH. Why is this even a question? 😂

Luluem · 08/08/2024 15:14

DH and all that agree with him are bonkers, a whole meal is to be enjoyed together!

HorizontalNotVertical · 08/08/2024 15:16

Either all mixed up or else best part first. Never worst part first- what if you drop dead half way through. (Or more realistically feel full.)
