What bedside crib do I want?

Looking for a bedside crib, not worried if only last until 6months and we have to then buy something else. Want one I think with a side you can drop down or zip up and down during the night.

We got a snuzpod 3 in 1 secondhand and a new mattress. She was in it until she was about 8months and might ve lasted longer but the time to move had arrived.

Pros

  • baby looked comfy and secure
  • she was basically in the same bed as us so super convenient,
  • looked nice,
-lots of accessories

cons (these are for the older model which may be different in new ones)
-it didn't rock,
-on ours the sides did zip up but not when it was attached the bed (but tbh baby will probably want you touching them at first)

  • all the snuzpod own brand stuff is good quality but expensive

I had this idea that she would be asleep next to us but turns out my baby only slept when she was being held, which lasted around 2months. I'm just saying as no one warned me this could happen and it was a shock!

Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope you find the perfect cot

Thanks, will have a look. We’re assuming for the first few weeks we’ll be doing shifts to hold them to sleep (with adult awake!)

We are pretty happy with the Tutti Cosi Maxi.

My son still snuggles up in it for half the night (because I'm too lazy to go back and forth), but it took three months to evict him from the main bed.

You wouldn't think that four inches would make a difference, but he could absolutely tell when he'd been put in the cot and not next to me in the bed.

For what it's worth, our routine in the early days was this:

  • I'd nap on the sofa roughly 8-10 in the evening, next to DH and our son (tried napping upstairs but both me and my son got upset, we found that we both slept better in the same room).
  • I'd be up til 12 or even 2 ISH feeding. Then a few hours before a looooooong night feed.
  • Back to sleep at 5am, up at 7am for an hour, then back to sleep til 10/11am. My husband could take our son down for that stretch too.

Later this evolved into a late afternoon nap.

Just thought it was worth saying that shifts through the night weren't that relevant - we planned for it, but it actually made more sense for me to sleep as much as I could between 7-midnight and 8 til 11, with a couple of hours in the middle when possible!

Good luck!

@thecatsthecats is it flush with the bed or is there still a ridge between you and does the hard bit of the top of the bit you fold dig on/get in the way?

my friend had an awesome old school style wooden cot that had the side that went up and over so was the same level as the bed

Another vote for the Snuzpods here. I have a Snuzpod 2 for downstairs and a snuzpod 3 for upstairs next to my bed. I got both second hand (£15 and £20) and just got new matresses as snuzpod still sell them. The height adjustment is easy and they are solidly built. The fabric bits come off (with an allen key to remove the screws) so you can wash them. In order to zip the side up you need to move it away from the bed but you can take the side of completely and attach it to the bed if you want. Unfortunately neither of my DCs would actually co-sleep (despite me trying and trying for my sanity) and preferred to be swaddled, so I just zip the side down when breast feeding now and then slide DC back into it when finished with minimal fuss. I’d recommend them. The Snuzpod 2 is narrower than the 3 if space is limited. Good luck with your pregnancy!

Thanks @PollywithaP maybe I need to go and see some in person asap. Figured as long as we have a car seat and somewhere to sleep sorted everything else can be panicked bought if they come early!
