I'm making a total meal of this

@thaegumathteth target has more than one meaning - first is a synonym of things like 997, but the alternative (which doesn't seem to feature much in the words list) is something you use to 21 with.

First letter is the same as 871, then the first two letters of 734. It ends with the last three letters of 776.

Oops @thaegumathteth it appears I can't spell, after the first letter of 871 you need the first letter of 734 twice, then the second. Hope I'm not confusing you too much!

Had to cheat by using synonyms. Not what I thought that word meant at all.

Me neither. I often struggle with @InMySpareTime clues. But others instantly get them. I find this really interesting, because it must mean certain people work along the same lines of logic.

Incidentally, I predominantly get @BasilParsley clues, so we probably have similar trains of thought. (Sorry @BasilParsley )

@StopInhalingRevels I usually find @InMySpareTime's clues fab but my brain is clearly switched off tonight. I can't think for the life of me what the proper names are for either of those things. I think today I don't deserve to get it 😂😂😂
