It is only about the riots or has it been going on for a long time. Also what exactly are the two tiers?

It’s a term that is used by the right wing media and fascists to describe the fact that white British people (especially the white working class) are being treated like everyone else, rather than being given a privileged position for their criminality.

They bemoan the fact that someone convicted of attacking the police and inciting people to burn a hotel with people inside gets as much as 2 years whereas the “idiots” from just stop oil get 5. The former should have been congratulated for patriotism and the latter capital punishment according to those who identify two tier policing.

They also don't often understand how law works. Lots of people calling out two tier police are questioning why the rioters and looters have been jailed whilst the Manchester Airport event has not seen anyone jailed - they seem to lack understanding of what pleading guilty means and how it compares to a criminal investigation.

It means the very heavy police presence at the undesired marches/roits versus no presence at all at the machete weilding criminal roits as seen in my home town.
Or another example, contrast the heavy handed policing at the Sarah Everard rallies, versus the very light handed policing at the pro Palestinian rallies.

People who use it think the Prime Minister of 4 weeks is deciding who gets arrested and who doesn’t. They are idiots and/or shit stirring. They are also Tory/Redorm voters.
