I genuinely, 100% do not understand why Punch and Judy is funny. I would like to understand what people find funny about them. So if you love a Punch and Judy show would you mind letting me know why?

I thought she hit him!! Don't think I've ever followed the story line 😬

I thought she hit him too 😀

I can only remember one or two from my childhood, but they've obviously declined in popularity over the decades. In fact my children had never seen a Punch and Judy show, so their Punch and Judy puppets (We had a large German wooden puppet theatre and puppets when they were young) so there was no hitting.

I don't think I found them funny when a child, though I'd like to see a traditional one now after reading so many historical accounts. I love the accounts, in various Dickens books, of Punch (old curiosity shop Quilp is often compared to Punch in analysis).

Katy from the 'Katy Did' books, on visiting London, asked for a Punch and Judy to be called back as she longed to see one after descriptions in, I think, Dickens. There was an attempt to deter her on account of them being 'low and vulgar'

Yes, great scene - interesting that the P&J man in WKDN was walking the streets of central London to perform.

Never liked it as a kid. Found it creepy and not remotely funny
