In agony with toothache - please advise

I've had toothache on and off for about a month now, had an emergency appointment a few weeks ago when the toothache first started, I need a root canal on the tooth but I'm currently pregnant (under 12 weeks) so she cleaned out the tooth and put a temporary dressing on. Was ok for about a few weeks but then whenever that tooth would catch what I was eating it would feel like it's being ripped out and then set off a long bout of toothache, I tried to avoid eating on that side of my mouth. Then since mid week I've been in non stop agony with relentless toothache, managed to get another appointment yesterday and dentist done the same thing, cleaned it out and put a temp dressing/filling on and gave me antibiotics. The second the numbness wore off I haven't had a since minute of relief from constant toothache, I'm just in agony.

Been taking paracetamol every 4 hours which are a waste of time and regular salt water rinses. Nothing helps. I just want it out now. I've been hiding away from DP and DS in the bedroom all day as even talking hurts. Will the antibiotics take the agony away at some point? I can't bare it any longer. I'm going to ring them on Monday and ask them for an emergency appointment to remove it but I don't know how long I'll have to wait and what I can do in the meantime. I feel horribly guilty to my DS as even though he's totally fine with his dad, weekends are the only proper time I get to spend with him and I'm hiding away upstairs.

Can you get hold of clove oil?

NEVER, NEVER put clove oil inside your mouth. It is toxic, irritant , acidic and burns through gums. I have had to take teeth out where clove oil has burnt through to the bone. Also people can be highly allergic to it.

The only place clove oil belongs is in the bin .

DP's gone to pick some codeine up from his aunty. According to the NHS website these are safe to use in pregnancy. I would never usually take someone like this which hasn't been prescribed but I'm pretty desperate at this point.

Jesus, your dentist sounds incompetent. Can you get a referral to an endodontist, if you want to keep the tooth?

With the amount of dental issues, toothache and abscesses I've had over the last 2 years and now this, I'm really losing faith but on the other hand I feel lucky to even have an NHS dentist though.

Lots of sympathy, tooth pain is torture. In your situation, I’d convert to only liquid / very soft foods as the chewing is setting off the horrendous waves of pain that can last for hours. I have had that - made my eyes water.

I had very warm salt rinses, regular simple painkillers, and little ice packs strapped to my cheek with a big scarf. Sleeping on an ice pack wrapped in a soft towel was also very soothing.

I didn’t find the orajel/ bonjela to be particularly useful. Sipping cold water while swishing the cold water around the painful side was surprisingly pleasant - I’d expected it to set off even more pain, but the cold helped. Extraction was the only thing that stopped the pain.
