What is your something you think or feel about your partner but would never tell him/ her

Have you seen that guy on Instagram who asks these kind of questions? People write the answers on paper then put them in a jar. He then reads out three answers. Some of them are heartbreaking.

LSTMS30555 · 01/08/2024 03:27

What's his name @MeAgainAndAgain?

I can’t remember. I had a look but I follow hundreds of people and couldn’t see him. He sits somewhere public, like a street or park, and asks one question. People write their answers and fold up the piece of paper and put it in something like one of those round old fashioned fish tanks. Then he goes home and opens three out at random. (I’m hoping these details jog someone’s memory.)

The one I saw last had an answer of a man in his 60s whose wife died in their 20s and he never remarried. The third answer was someone who never married at all as they never connected with anyone. And one of the top comments was saying these two people should get together.

The questions are what’s your biggest regret, who have you loved the most, what dream did you have to abandon, stuff like that. If I come across it I’ll definitely put it here. I’ll have to wait for the algorithm to do it’s thing!

I wish he hadn't lost loads of weight as he's so skinny it doesn't suit him.

If you could do one thing before you die (money no object) what would it be?

See my son grow up and get married. So I know he’ll be ok.

Is your current partner your greatest love?

Marygoround22 · 01/08/2024 04:55

Find a real, proper, loving relationship.
Sad, I know! I can't think of anything astronomically expensive that I can't afford that I'd like to do.
Or perhaps be able to afford to retire and have a horse. But I technically could afford to own a horse now, I'd just be too lazy to juggle it's upkeep. And I'd still want the relationship, I've never married, never settled, just had a string of disasters.

What's something you pretend you're happy with about yourself or life, that you're really not?

Sweetteaplease · 01/08/2024 05:01

That I'm happy being a mum. If you could change one thing about yoir past, what would it be

Marygoround22 · 01/08/2024 05:39

I'll answer @Zusammen as nobody has yet.
No. I thought she was for a time..I thought she was a bit quiet and unassuming for me. Turns out she has a lot of ND needs that I have struggled to cope with as they manifest themselves in ways I receive as very selfish.

@Sweetteaplease 's question hasn't bsen answered so I'll not ask one 😊

That I had stayed with my kind, easy going but slightly dull husband and our lovely house when I had them in my thirties and not taken them for granted/not appreciated them enough. (now divorced and living elsewhere)

Tell us about something you have done which reflects badly on you and which you are ashamed of

Stripperyone · 01/08/2024 06:32

Surprisingly perhaps, I don't regret being a stripper.
I do regret not pursuing other career paths harder though. I came out of university and just went into menial jobs. Now in my forties trying to get back into the academic world. I've been a teacher for a while, doing something else now but I really would like to go back tobeing in academia and nothing seems available.

Something you do day to day which others may be surprised by

I guess when you were a stripper there were no camera phones about so you can leave this in the past and enjoy your memories of being young and wild .

Chat to God in my head throughout the day, despite not having a faith.
What do you think will happen when you die, and do you fear it?

Not quite. I only stopped a couple of years ago 😂(& cheated by returning once when my lovely regular was in town!). I only really stopped because a partner didn't like it, which I now regret because it turned out she wouldn't commit to me, and lost my 'twighlight' 18 months or so at it doing so. You're right about the memories though. Would love to relive some of those.

StoatofDisarray · 01/08/2024 07:01

@Fimbledore I don't know whether it will be a painful death or a falling asleep one, but I think it will be like going under general anaesthetic: I'll lose consciousness. I have no belief in a soul or afterlife or any deities.

Do I fear it? No. I don't enjoy my life, even though I like my job and live my partner. I had a horrible childhood and it's damaged me for life.

My question: have you ever been in a situation where you thought you might die? What was that like?

LSTMS30555 · 01/08/2024 07:06

@MeAgainAndAgain thanks I'll try finding him

LSTMS30555 · 01/08/2024 07:10

@StoatofDisarray
Unfortunately I have been in that situation more times then I'd care to remember at the hands of an abusive ex.

What's your guilty pleasure?

Girasoli · 01/08/2024 07:22

Reading Harry Potter fanfiction. I'm writing one at the moment too.

Are there any things in life you think were genuinely better in 'the olden days' can be the 50s or Victorian times or whenever really

DrRiverSong · 01/08/2024 07:27

I think there was very much something to be said for not knowing all the world news all the time and being insulated from wider “badness” abroad in the world. It must have felt much safer in many ways only knowing that which was domestic, and further back only really that which happened in your immediate area.

What is something you have always wanted to do / experience that many people would be surprised about if you did it.

RivkaTheBrave · 01/08/2024 07:35

An orgy. Though I don't think it would be as much fun as I imagine it would be.

If you could reconnect with someone from your past, who would it be and why?

Superfuryanimal · 01/08/2024 08:01

I would like to have my mum back for a while so that I could ask her all the questions about herself that I was too young and self interested to ask whilst she was alive. I'd want to tell her how much I appreciate all she did for me, give her a huge hug and tell her how much I love and admire her.

What are you most proud of?

nearerthanfar · 01/08/2024 08:10

How much I've grown as a person since having my daughter 3 years ago.

Do you ever long for a completely different life, even if you are happy in your current one?

doyoulikemyyams · 01/08/2024 08:25

Do you ever long for a completely different life, even if you are happy in your current one?

All the time. I'm gutted life is so short and we only (as far as we know) get one – there are so many lives I'd have loved to have had the chance to experience. I'm lucky (maybe?) in that I've had several clear and very different 'chapters' in my life, and tried on a number of different ways of living – but that comes at its own cost.

What do you really need to hear right now?

That it's all going to be ok.

When was the last time you had a big ugly cry?

bryceQ · 01/08/2024 09:18

When was the last time you had a big ugly cry?

A few weeks ago at the prospect of the summer holidays with my autistic son and chronic migraines. I felt very desperate.

Q. Do you believe in karma?
