The shop, not the place.

Yes

mommyandmore · 31/07/2024 14:24

So good! Northern lights, blue lagoon, nature - do it! Wrap up warm.

Sunshineafterthehail · 31/07/2024 14:24

Lots of branded stuff these days!

Needmorelego · 31/07/2024 14:26

It's a supermarket. It sells food. It's good.
Non food stuff like cleaning products and toiletries there isn't much variety and they don't tend to do "own brand" on things like pasta sauce or cereal so they can be more expensive than if you were buying own brand from Tesco etc.
But if you order for home delivery you get lots of exclusive offers which evens out the costs.
I do my main shop at Iceland.

If u buy a lot of freezer stuff yes. I don't so rarely go. They have frozen tuna steaks, 3 bags for 10 pound-small but good value and tasty

Needmorelego · 31/07/2024 14:33

@BCBird I actually buy more non frozen foods from Iceland than I do frozen.
Bread, milk, juice, fruit and veg, tinned products, pasta sauce, fresh meat, ham, eggs, butter, yoghurts, cheese, chocolates, crisps, crackers, biscuits, cakes, cereal.......
About the only frozen I get is pizzas, chips and ice cream 🥶

Thats the kind of idea I had.

More tuna less geysers. Thanks

Yes. The Iceland Food Warehouse is basically Nirvana. As well as the great range and price of their frozen food, their fresh food is really good quality and tinned/packet stuff is cheap as bollocks too.

Our Iceland Food Warehouse is next door to B&M. It's a whole day trip for me.

Sheknowsaboutme · 31/07/2024 14:41

I love Iceland! My lot love the crispy/breaded chicken strips, all flavours, great choice of fish, chips, crisps, lollies. Every thing!

devildeepbluesea · 31/07/2024 14:43

I’m not impressed at all by their non frozen stuff. Salads that I’ve tried were disgusting, short dated meats, I even had some chicken breasts that had gone off before being sold.
Their frozen range seems great - but I don’t buy much frozen.

Wow where do you live? My local Iceland is crap in comparison 😆

Whistleblowing · 31/07/2024 14:44

😂

Sorry mommyandmore not laughing at you, just at the confusion. I agree Iceland is a must tick off several times place to fly to.

I am curious about frozen vegetables at Iceland. What’s the quality like?

huuskymam · 31/07/2024 15:25

I miss Iceland, they got rid of all their stores in Ireland. Loved the varieties that you couldn't get in Dunnes or tescos.

TheGirlWhoLived · 31/07/2024 15:28

I do a bulk Iceland freezer fill every 2 months, get lots of frozen meat, my protein skewers, Birdseye things, ice lollies, ice, pizzas, frozen veg of every kind, chips, frozen fruit for smoothies etc. I’ve tried lots of other bits and wouldn’t rate their fresh things at all, packets and tins are ok, branded packets, crisps, Coke etc and tins are usually cheaper. Wouldnt buy meat, eggs, fresh fruit or veg.

eggplant16 · 31/07/2024 17:19

I have trialled it this afternoon! How can you get eggs wrong? Didn't like the look of chicken thighs with skin on but hapy to embrace the humble Bassa fish.

Lets see!

Good to stock up the freezer, not good for a regular weekly shop.
good for buffet bits for Christmas etc, and the deserts are usually good.

mitogoshi · 31/07/2024 17:28

If you buy pre packaged foods then you'll like it. If you cook from scratch, not so much. I pick up milk from it out of convenience and there really is a poor selection of the type of food I personally buy

ssd · 31/07/2024 17:30

I find Iceland expensive, especially branded stuff

I bought a bag of frozen fish, think that'll work. Frozen veg, cereal and a huge box of soap powder which was on offer.

Frozen veg is great, I also like the frozen garlic, chilli, ginger.

ODFOx · 31/07/2024 18:25

You need to check the source of the chicken for every bag unless it has a Union flag on the bag.
Great for frozen fish and seafood.
I don't trust their prepared stuff (too many ways to coat chicken makes me think that they're hiding something.
Their dim sum are OK. They don't do sushi any more which is a shame.
Frozen veg are the same everywhere but Iceland aren't the cheapest.
I don't buy their non-frozen stuff as they are more expensive than Tesco for fruit and cheddar and their loo roll is poor. I don't have enough time to price compare everything.
