Does anybody consistently sleep really well?

Night before last I slept really really well and I woke up yesterday feeling amazing.

I started work early (7:45am) from home so I could maximise the sunny day, went for a swim on my lunch break at the leisure centre, finished work at 4pm, had sex with my husband, walked to my in laws to use their pool for a bit, walked back, cooked dinner and went to bed feeling like I’d had a great day.

Most of the time I’m not a great sleeper - sometimes an awful sleeper - and usually wake up feeling groggy and like I need an extra hour or two. I often have a bit of a headache etc.

It dawned on me yesterday that this might be how people are SUPPOSED to feel!

Are there really people out there who sleep amazingly every night, wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day? I’m so jealous!

Pre children that was me! Now with children who have woken me for years it’s like I can’t sleep either

Yes. I sleep well and wake up ready to work or to go for a run.

My ds is a teen so sleeps longer than I do.

The downside is that by 10.30pm I'm ready for my bed, so late glamorous evenings out are few and far between.

For the last 6 months I have been really strict about my sleep hygiene and it is now working. Same time to bed, awake, no caffeine after midday and no alcohol. It has worked but took time.

This is me but by 10.30 l am looking longingly at my bed. Once out of my cosy bed l am flying..so more a morning person. I do keep to regular hours so good body clock.

Sleep went downhill after having a baby, improving now 15 years later. Better with loads of exercise, preferably outdoors. Careful with caffeine in the evening.

I sleep like a log every night. It’s a gift! I also love the morning if I can be up before the kids. But I typically don’t wake for more than a lovely stretch and roll over in the night.

Since peri kicked in in my early 40’s, I am really good about sleep hygiene. I have 3 children so for about 10 years I had disturbed sleep from them. Now I value it so much. This is what I do:

I get up at 5.30am every day (even at weekends-consistency with time is very important), bed around 9.30pm

i get outside first thing without screen or glasses; this sets/re-sets your body clock

i try not to drink too close to bedtime (last cup of tea abt 45 mins before)

I have coffee in the morning but then caffeine free tea/drinks only after abt 1pm

my room temp is important; I like sleeping with a fan as it keeps me cool but also I think the white noise prevents loud noises suddenly waking me

i occasionally have a bad night but that is usually due to stress/overthinking. If I do wake, I deliberately force myself to daydream back to sleep, rather than think about work/kids/life. Sometimes I have to stop those thoughts coming in. I even replay movie scenes or fantasise about the house I’m spending future lottery win on; something mindless that lets me drift back to sleep

My sleep hygiene isn’t bad. I do have a consistent going to bed and waking up time. I was super strict about it a few years ago to the point where I used to do a morning meditation and only drink decaf coffee…I gave up because I felt like I was cutting the joy out of my life and still not sleeping that well! Ironically my sleep is better now than it has been for ages. I just can’t believe people feel as good as I felt yesterday every day! What a difference that must make to life!

I sleep amazingly every night. I fall asleep within seconds of my head hitting the pillow. Don't wake up until my alarm goes off on a weekday or whenever my body naturally wakes up at the weekend. I'm in my 40s.
