What is this issue? Is it claustrophobia?

I've always needed fresh air but it's probably got worse. I open most of the windows in my house about 6.30am and don't close them until maybe 6pm. In the winter i open and close them for shorter periods but they get opened a fair bit.

If I don't get fresh air, I feel trapped and stifled. Recently my train had to stop due to a signal failure and I had to sit on the train for about 6 hours (journey + stopping time). I felt horrifically stifled and desperately needed fresh air but obviously couldn't get it. I managed it but I honestly felt awful, really panicked and trapped.

What on earth is this and how do I get it to stop?

I’m claustrophobic and often feel like the space has no air.

I carry a small fan with me. It helps.
I also have a very small, very quiet fan pointed at me while I sleep.

That's exactly it - the space has no air. Thank you so much. I'll buy a little fan to try.

Yep I have my windows all year round - my old workplace didn’t have any windows that open windows and I nearly threw my chair through the glass a million times. being stuck on a stopped train is my idea of hell (I also have bad escape tendencies!)

i suppose if you think about it, it’s a relatively new phenomenon for humans to be so detached from the natural world - and so sealed in

i have been reading alot about grounding which i thought was a load of bunkum but the more I read the more I think it’s totally unnatural for our feet not to touch the earth and for us to be limited in fresh air

Yes I am like this. I have to sleep with a breeze on my face and I panic if I can't breathe and feel shut in. Even on hot days and the air being too warm effects me. I was stuck on a train once and I had an extra beta blocker to help me deal with it. I have claustrophobia too.
