I need help.

I’m tired of cleaning my house and it looking a state again in 2 days (I live on my own!)

I’m tired of having nice clothes I never wear because I bought them to slim down into,

Sick of feeling tired and procrastinating.

Same here. I wonder if it’s got something to do with age. I never used to be like this.

Got rid of my car and walk everywhere ( not possible for everyone). Saves me money and keeps me fit.

Thelnebriati · 29/07/2024 14:02

If you feel tired all the time and can't be bothered, see your GP and get some blood tests. It can be a symptom of something that's easy to fix like low Vit D or iron, so don't let them fob you off with anti depressants before they've checked for other problems.

TonyTigerKindaSexy · 29/07/2024 14:03

Get a cleaner. Seriously. Life changing.
If you can't afford weekly cleans, go fortnightly or even monthly. Whatever you can afford will make a difference.

Try any and every sport or exercise that's feasible in the context of your life. Find one you enjoy (or don't hate) and stick to it. Weight loss and toning up and great-fitting clothes will follow without it all feeling too hard.

Sorry you're feeling so deflated OP

Yes, see your GP and check for iron, thyroid and so on..

Stopped weighing myself

frozendaisy · 29/07/2024 14:07

Drink water

Read even just 30 minutes a day

Donate the slim clothes to charity shop and when, not if, when you lose weight then buy new stuff, if you can't do that pack away those clothes because it sounds like you are just reminding yourself of failure whilst they are around.

Make a fruit salad for the fridge it's much easier to snack on fruit when it's already chopped up

Very good tip to see GP if you're constantly tired. I was utterly exhausted at Easter and finally went to see the GP about it. It turned out that my ferritin was ridiculously low - I've been on iron supplements ever since. So that's one thing.

Another thing I did was take up running. I joined a women's running group with a C25K group and took it from there. I wax and wane a bit with my interest/distances run, but I've been running for five years now and it really has changed my life for the better.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/07/2024 14:12

Start exercise if you don’t already.

Put things away when you’ve finished with them?

HangingOnJustAbout · 29/07/2024 14:16

Re. House, do you need to declutter? Getting rid of everything you don't need and making sure everything else has a home makes tidying and cleaning much faster. No shame in getting a cleaner though.

Lose the weight. I know it's easier said than done and I've struggled in my time but every now and again I find the motivation and lose it in a matter of weeks then think about how much time I've wasted when I could have just done it.

Cut out gluten (or wheat) apart from the odd sourdough and have raw veg, nuts, salads and seeds instead. Cut out sugar apart from dark chocolate. ( You get used to it. Now if I have other stuff it's too sweet.) But make it work for you choose what you like/love. But I feel a million times better from cutting down drastically on pastry, cakes, bread cheap pasta, etc. Drink water .

Poss controversial as all my things have cost me money so the first thing I did was get another job (4hrs extra a week) to cover these costs:

  • cleaner 2 hrs per fortnight
(means my kitchen and bathroom and floors are deep cleaned and I do surface cleans every week in between).
  • reformer Pilates 1 x per wk
(I started this as an adjunct to my HRT as I was so stiff and did NO exercise, I feel great).
  • GLP-1 injections for weight loss
(I was morbidly obese BMI 36 & 4mth on I’ve lost 2 stone & my BMI is 30. I feel fantastic).

The monthly total for all this is £340. Income from job is £340. Job done.

Set a ten minute timer to do jobs you don't want to do. Put some music on. You'll be astounded how much cleaning you get done. Reward yourself with a beverage of your choice.
