London taxi late at night

Hi, I'm just after some advice on taxis/transport back from the theatre to Battersea. I'm looking at trains, buses and taxis. A taxi would be easier and hopefully safer.

We're seeing an evening performance so will get out of the theatre approximately 10.15pm.

Just wondering if any London experts can give me some advice please.
It's just me travelling with a teen.

Thanks

Yes it's York road.
I'm still undecided. 😂

It will still be busy in central London then so not an issue to hail a cab or book an Uber. But equally public transport at that time is still running and safe. I'd have no issues with getting public transport on my own at that time (indeed I often do).

The bigger question is how close is your Battersea location to public transport? I wouldn't want a long walk through a rough area at that time.

All of those options are perfectly safe.

I'd get the tube or hail a black cab if you've cash to spare and fancy a treat.

Where's the theatre?

I'm ok with buses from Clapham junction I think and one stops right outside the hotel.

All those options are perfectly fine and safe in London at that time of night, even later. I'd personally use an uber.

No tube near Battersea.
Get an uber!

That hotel is a 10 minute walk from Clapham Junction and a perfectly safe area.

If it’s York Rd and coming from Clapham Junction I’d get the bus (295 or C3) or walk straight down Plough Road but once dark I’d personally avoid the shortcut through the Winstanley Estate. I have family that live in the Battersea riverside bit and we’re not far from CJ so I do that journey a lot.

I wouldn't have walked down grant road/plough road at night or cut through the park behind the estate to get to York Road 35 years ago when I lived that side of Clapham junction. That whole chunk is a series of huge council estates, my own flat was in an ex council estate there. The only place my car was ever broken into in 9 years living round there was in a street off plough road.

If you can get a bus to york road fine, otherwise hail a black cab from wherever you want to and enjoy the ride.

At that time all the shows finish at the same time so the tubes are crazy busy!
I've often used them later than this and , especially at the weekend, they are busy til gone midnight!

I regularly go to the theatre in London and always get the tube after, including when I am with my 8 and 10 year olds. Never had a problem and it's always super busy around 10.30/11
