What did you do for your 'big birthday'

I know some people will be like 'nothing unusual it's just another birthday blah blah'

But I turn 30 in September and I want to celebrate!

It's the start of a new decade, a fresh decade (after a split from XDP earlier this year after nearly 10 years together) so I want it to be a positive thing!

So many people dread their big birthdays but I'm trying not to look at it as getting older

So if you did celebrate, what did you do! (It doesn't have to be your 30th)

I don't remember doing anything for my 30th or 40th. I doubt we will do anything for my 50th either. I don't really care about my birthday tbh and I certainly don't want the embarrassment of it being made into a massive fuss.

for Dh 's 30th I took him to New York and came back pregnant so Dd was his 30th present, for his 40th we had a surprise birthday party with family and friends in a village hall with a fun casino and I booked a surprise mini break to Ibiza.

its just my birthday I reject celebrating !

Oh wow some really lovely birthday celebrations!

Unfortunately no extraordinary holidays for me here, I've got too small children so i can't spend toooo much time away from them!

I think my closest friends have got together to organise something so I'll leave it in their hands.

As long as I get to spend the day with my favourite people I dont mind!

Nothing really.

30 - I was working on the day, got home about 7pm, just had a normal meal with parents. I'd stayed the night before with a friend and she brought me a cake and card at midnight. My then boyfriend and I had our first row the night before so we didn't celebrate at all. That weekend I went out with 3 friends to a special event at a landmark and saw that as my 30th party.

40 - I was very ill. I'd planned to have a small tea party for about 25 of us at a local venue and postponed it a month but didn't get any better in that time. I'd planned a city break too which was my 40th trip...that had to be cancelled. On the day itself I just had friends round for coffee and a pub lunch with my nearest family. Did keep meaning to celebrate once better but in the end, it just didn't happen and I guess I wasn't that fussed - it came and went!

I haven't actually had a birthday party since ai was 9 so I guess I'm used to it! I feel a teensy bit sad but at the same time, it's not that big a deal.

30th - restaurant meal with a big group of friends.
40th we went to St Tropez for a week - with dd who was 4.
50th I took my sister and friends to Barcelona for the weekend. it was marvellous. Plus had a BBQ in the garden before.
I'm dreading 60 though as that sounds proper OLD!

I went away from the weekend with my DP at the time, now ex. Then the following weekend had a house party. I paid for guy to come and make cocktails.
