It's my first interview in 6 years.
It's for travelodge as a room attendant
I'm really nervous
I don't know how formal it will be and if I'll be able to get the job
I get so nervous
Any tips or tricks ?

I have no experience with this sort of interview, but good luck! Be yourself and be personable and I'm sure you'll do well!

What is a room attendant?

I’m assuming you have prepared answers to the usual interview questions such as why you want the job (ie. tell them why you want to work for THAT company doing that specific job not why the job would suit you!). If you haven’t done that then definitely look up some common interview questions and list your most relevant experiences so they’re fresh in your mind.

Good luck!

Have you googled some regularly used interview questions and thought about the kind of answers you could give? I find having a few examples to various question to had can make you feel more prepared and calmer (even if those questions never come up). It might be worth going back to the original job advert and thinking what they could ask to show you have the skills/experience they're asking for (such as customer service, organisation skills, etc etc).

No direct experience, but some general tips:

Prepare 5 answers that can be adapted to give examples of your skills and show you in a good light. Eg when you have gone above and beyond, when you have had to handle a complaint, when you have had to organise or change something
Write out bullet points for each scenario in the STAR format which is:
What was the Situation
What did you have to do (Task)
What Action did you take
What was the Result

Then think about what questions are you hoping to avoid and prepare answers for those

Have an answer prepared for why you want to work there and why you are thinking of leaving your current job if applicable

If it helps you feel more comfortable then explain up front that you are a bit nervous

Think of a question you can ask at the end- something around training and development opportunities is usually good/ safe

Most of all, try to relax and good luck!

Maintain eye contact
Smile
Remember they've invited YOU, you haven't chanced this.

Good luck

When I used to interview for staff I liked interviewees who’d ask a question or two. Look on their website, is there something they’re specifically proud of? See if you can work that in. Are they involved at all in any local initiative, been in the local news for doing anything beneficial?

Good luck. Try to relax and be yourself.

I did a very very long time ago. Travelodge, same role.

It was extremely informal and relaxed, I think we may have been sitting on sofas, I don't remember exactly. Just straightforward questions, no trick questions. Making sure I understood what the role entailed and what experience I had. "Give me an example of a time when you delivered excellent customer service" that type of thing.

It obviously may be different now, but I don't think working yourself into a state will help.

Remember that part of an interview is for you to assess whether you want to work for them.

Have a few relevant examples prepared and practise talking to yourself in the mirror beforehand until you lose the self-conscious feeling.

@Binfire basically clean the rooms before the next guest checks in
