I met a man last night who remembered me from 30 years ago

Which is nice but also freaking me out a bit.

I was at a party for my sports club. We are both members, but compete at different levels, so although I'd seen him, we'd never actually spoken.

Last night I made a point of "working the room" and spoke to lots of people from different groups which was nice.

When I spoke to him and laughed about the fact that I'd "known" him for ages, but didn't actually know his name, he said "I know you, you used to go to Gym in our Town c.1992, you used the stepper a lot."

Now it's flattering to think someone I didn't really know recognised me from 30 years ago, I obviously haven't changed bit 😆 but also really weird? I have no recollection of him at all. Also not sure if I did use the stepper, but I was a member at that time.

He also appeared to know my life story, things which lots of people at the club know, but no idea why he would know them.

This is weird, right?

It's not necessarily creepy, I don't think. I mean, if he's been stalking you that's a very long time to wait to make a move, isn't it? Some people just have that sort of steel trap mind, they remember a face forever and any passing information gets neatly filed alongside the face without trying.

Someone asked me last year if I used to date my now DH. She turned out to be the sister of one of DH's friends, I had met her maybe twice at most, in a large group, in the 1980s (I know the timing because we moved to London in 1990). I have no recall of meeting her at all, let alone remember her face but apparently she remembers everyone forever. It was sweet though as, through meeting her, DH went out for the evening to catch up with a whole group of friends from his college days that he had long lost touch with.
