Sick after being in the sea?

On South East Coast, no warnings on beach info etc but the DC came down with crippling stomach pains and severe diarrhoea an hour after being in the sea?

Coincidence? Another illness?

(Not us although we're on the same coast and are recovering from Noro. We haven't seen said child!)

There is not enough information, what else was done throughout the day? At the moment I would say coincidence.

Have you looked up if there are sewage spills in the area? It is a problem along a lot of the coast.

Normal day (eating and activity wise) and no sign of illness at all before being in the sea.

Water ingested (but only the odd "splash" whatever that means) and within 30 minutes child was complaining of severe tummy ache and within the hour had D (no V)

Info is usually published on the beaches along this stretch of coast if sewage levels are high. Sometimes swimming / being in the sea isn't even allowed if levels are too high 😮

I live on the south east coast (East Sussex) and have been ill from swimming in the sea, as have many friends. There was heavy rain and a sewage discharge earlier in the week (thanks Southern Water) so entirely possible it’s related.

Oh Jesus. I lived by the sea in the south east. Would often see turds floating by. No way Id go in there especially anywhere near Brighton. Stick to lidos or swimming pools.
