Tell me the secrets to getting in demand concert tickets!

Another concert ticket sale, another disappointed teenager when we got to the front of the queue and the only tickets left cost £280...

I signed up to the artist presale, logged into ticketmaster, joined the waiting room the minute it opened, got in the queue but still 13,000 people ahead of me!

What am I doing wrong? What's the key to getting tickets to really popular concerts??? Help!!!

The queue for the waiting room opens 5-10 minutes before the waiting room itself opens, if that makes sense.

So for example for Dua Lipa I logged into my Ticketmaster account at 9.50 (sales opened at 10am) and was around number 1,000 in the queue. My husband who was also trying didn't log in until 10 and was something like 15,000.

Luck
Money
Persistence - if you have a phone and a laptop and a tablet and a husband is it possible to have them all trying at the same time ?

If this is for Sabrina Carpenter I think the starting price of tickets were £240!!
I’m pretty good at getting tickets and the only real advice I can give is:
Log on to Ticketmaster on multiple accounts with your card details saved on the site.
Rope in helpers to refresh the devices if you can.
Prepare to spend a long time there- I’ve sat with picky bits so I didn’t have to make lunch.
Have a good idea of your upper and lower limits spending wise, and any no-nos (ie would you be happy with restricted view seats?)
And keep an eye on fan sites.

But I am a bit militant about it 🫣

No Secret - I had 4 laptops on the go for Taylor Swift, logging on at various times prior to the 10am on sale time. It didn't matter that one was on before the other as at 10am , the wait times are allocated randomly. I was successful on all 4 accounts but the one logged on first was not the smallest number in the queue!

You just need to be militant about and tbh take the first tickets that you get - no time to debate as some one will have snagged them in that time!

Unfortunately for Sabrina the tickets started at £240 so £280 wasn't bad (relative to starting price).

Yup, Sabrina Carpenter!

So you have multiple ticketmaster accounts and devices? Do you find laptops are better than phones? It's it about internet speeds?

I thought I'd done everything right - I logged in early, had my details ready blah blah but still thousands in front of me...

I honestly don't believe you think £240 for one concert ticket in the nosebleeds is 'not bad'. It's totally outrageous pricing!

Unfortunately I think there is a big element of luck. I’m the only person I knew who got Taylor Swift tickets, and we were all doing the same thing. They’ve gone bonkers with the pricing though, I think they’re pricing everyone semi normal out of going!

LaLaLouella · 26/07/2024 11:45

I guess they also need to be more transparent about actual ticket prices then because all the advance publicity said they started at £68...

Doesn’t this poster state “relative to pricing”. I think we all agree it’s pretty outrageous.
I think I have two accounts with different details.
Nowadays they quite often advertise a limited number of v. cheap seats but these might be behind the stage and released sporadically over time. I’m sorry OP but the £68 seats are a hook only, most people who do get tickets will only be able to get “mid-tier” seats.

LaLaLouella · 26/07/2024 12:30

Yes, I was expecting to grit my teeth and pay around the £120 mark, I wasn’t expecting £68. But when I hear they ‘started’ at £240 I just think something is really rotten with the entire system…
