Basically I'm going to be flamed and probably deserve it.
Due to illness I hadn't had a job in 6 years.
I have jobs in the past obviously admin /office work.
I have decent grades including a levels

I applied for a job as room attendant for premier inn
I have an interview but on my application I said in 2007 I worked at travel lodge for two years .
As the application said they prefer previous experience

Do you think if I get the job I will suffer because of no experience?
Or do you think I will be okay ?

Why not just set yourself up as a cleaner? Just advertise on local Facebook and you'll have clients in no time.

I want something with a guaranteed wage
This might be only £11.80 a hour but at the min Im receiving UC and struggling to even live.
I just want something secure and reliable

Does anyone know if the interview will be hard ?
What type of questions ?

Cleaning hotel rooms is different than cleaning your house. There's speed for one thing. They may well train you or put you with someone who diest it the way they want you too. I'm sure you'll pick it up quickly enough.
By the way my friend got a hotel cleaning job after not having worked over 29 years. Not exactly an in demand job. She then moved to M&S cafe.

What is your average room rate?

How would you deal with a situation where a guest was aggressive?

What would you do if you detected a guest had been smoking/taking drugs/using prostitute?

What is your understanding of cleaning products and handling chemicals?

Do you know how to twin a bed?

Do you know the difference between a refresh and a turnover? What tasks are skipped or different?

Can you work in other departments if needed? IE on the bar, carrying plates, meet & greeting, checking in etc.

Do you understand the difference between service and hospitality?

What would you do if a guest asked you to do something you were unsure about?

What would you do if you found money or valuable items lying around the room?

Tbh, since they're looking for someone with experience, they'll be expecting you to hit the ground running.

gamerchick · 24/07/2024 20:52

Have you ever turned rooms around OP?

CatamaranViper · 24/07/2024 20:57

Sorry, some more.

What has been the most challenging housekeeping task you've dealt with?

What systems are you used to using?

What is your understanding of health and safety procedures?

How do you prioritise every day tasks?

If you walked in a room that stunk of smoke, had pizza smeared on the ceiling, a broken ironing board and a leaky tap, what would you do first?

take10yearsofmylife · 24/07/2024 21:12

Hope they give you a chance, can't see why you can't be trained within short time with this line of work.

I can't even get a reference from a job I had 17 years ago, cant imagine they will ask for one.

After being a sahm for almost 10 years, I know that feeling of how much you wanted it so good luck! 🍀

sleekcat · 24/07/2024 21:27

I don't think they will try to get a reference from that long ago. I also think it's ok not to be able to 'remember' everything from your last job. I wouldn't be able to for something that was 17 years ago.

I am honest and trustworthy

Not on the basis of this thread

politicalintrigue · 25/07/2024 08:37
