Any point taking it up with eBay?

New ish to eBay, Needed new shoes for a funeral tomorrow and my local town has nothing in it apart from vape shops so ordered them from eBay, also ordered a skirt. Different seller

Postman came yesterday with one parcel. A skirt.

Two hours later I got a random email saying the shoes had just been delivered. Went to the door, Nothing there, checked my bins because sometimes parcels get left in one of them, nothing, checked with neighbours, nothing.

Messaged seller to say its saying delivered but not got it. Only reply so far is 'it was delivered, don't ask me, ask local postman'

Thing I find a bit odd is every time I get something delivered by Royal Mail it gives tracking information, a picture when delivered and a map of where it was left. If I look at the tracking for the shoes it simply says 'delivered' no other info at all, no picture, no map. It also doesn't say the usual 'Royal Mail 24/48 it just says 'Royal Mail parcel'

Would I get my money back if I contact eBay, I'm not fancying my chances seeing as tracking says delivered?

If you haven't received it you should be covered by eBay/PayPal (or the courier if lost) as long as you bought and paid for it through eBay - no arrangements on the side. You may need to open a case to force the seller to respond properly. The fact they haven't taken the time to do that is poor.

You obviously can't just ask the postman so the seller should make enquiries with the courier.

Always raise a case for any dispute, and put any communications into the dispute ‘conversation’. (If anything has been communicated separately then screenshot it and drop it into the conversation)

Is there a tracking reference in the eBay app?
(and where did the email about delivery come from - eg was it an eBay notification ?)

…….

Handle the claim/dispute as ‘item not received’
It’s then between the seller and carrier (Royal Mail) to resolve the matter of delivery - the contract is between them
There will be a level of delay involved with that, but the eBay dispute process has set time frames with each part of the process to be actioned by each of you

If it remains missing then the general process as far as you are concerned is to report it as not received, the seller should have entered a postage reference number (it does not necsssarily have to be fully tracked, and there may be delays in any tracking coming through)
Presumably as you have had delivery notification there is some form of reference entered on eBay (if there wasn’t then eBay would find in your favour more quickly)
If it reappears then it may be late for your needs but eBay will count that as a successful sale
if it remains missing then the sale would eventually be refunded to you by eBay, and the seller would need to claim against the carrier

Make sure that you promptly respond to eBay alerts about the status of a dispute - it minimises delay and avoids a default closure of the dispute
Keep checking the app for eBay messages in case you miss a status

Yes it's worth contacting ebay, the customer service is actually okay in my experience.

Also, I recently had an ebay delivery via Royal Mail, and they very unusually left it on my doorstep, no note through the door etc, but luckily a neighbour rang my doorbell before the parcel was nicked.
