Early inheritance

My ex has offered his kids an early inheritance, but he wants them to pay him back £80 per month for 15 years, he is 65. That is a loan, which none of them asked for, so don't want to accept. He doesn't see it that way and is annoyed that they won't accept. What planet is he living on?

Pretty odd. Also does he realise it will affect any benefits they claim. Actually that may be why he wants to do this as it will reduce his capital for benefits purposes but will actually be considered as deprivation of capital by UC for instance.

I don't blame them not wanting it. Why does he want to lead them all money and get payments each month, that's not inheritance, that is a loan. He's lost the plot.

Has he explained his thinking behind this odd idea ?

Is it so they can get on the property ladder when their incomes are relatively low, and pay it off as they earn more?

If they’re never likely to claim benefits that would kind of make sense, but it’s rather convoluted. And he shouldn’t be arsey about people rejecting help they’ve not asked for.

You are correct. It's not inheritance as he's not dead. Do they need it for anything in particular?
