Bullseye bites?

Do these count as bullseye bites? Does that always mean Lyme disease? That’s the last thing anyone needs! Seems OTT to bother doc about some bites though? There’s another one on the side of my leg (and one on my stomach but not bullseye). Sorry about my gross leg!

I would definitely see a doctor about those.

Ah bollocks

It looks like Lyme disease but I don't think I have ever seen more than one of them.

They look like bites you’ve had a reaction to and one looks like a bullseye. It’s usually fine to leave but on occasion it can result in Lyme Disease which is why preventive antibiotics is recommended.

Oh that’s a relief. Have just sent a pic to doc. Woke up with them so don’t think they’re from a tick! Unless I already have Lyme disease and it’s showing like this (I do have a connective tissue disease with a lot of similar symptoms so who knows! Hopefully not)

I would definitely get that checked.

I work outside a lot, and we are always being briefed on bullseye bites!!

Igneococcus · 22/07/2024 12:02

It seems it's possible to have more than one. Did you have a tick?
I hade Lyme Disease a few years ago and had one classic bullseye rash. I took antibiotics and I never developed other symptoms than the rash. The only annoying thing was that doxycycline makes you sensitive to sunlight and it was a rare sunny summer here at the West coast of Scotland.

RobertSalamander · 22/07/2024 12:17

@Igneococcus I woke up with them a few days ago so I’m hoping mosquito. If I had a tick I never noticed it! 🤢

Those look like infected bites to me. I've had similar several times and flucloxacillin is the treatment of choice.

I wouldn't think it's Lyme disease, more likely pesky mosquitoes or similar. Needs treating whatever.

Notjustabrunette · 22/07/2024 12:44

There’s no harm in checking these things out. I see you have already contacted your Dr, and I’m sure they won’t see it as silly.

Peaceatlast01 · 22/07/2024 12:48

We found a tick on DS last week and he subsequently developed a rash (not bullseye and not in the same place as the tick bite) but I was concerned enough to take him to minor injuries on Saturday morning, and they were more than happy to see him.

just because of the bullseye I would get that checked OP.

RobertSalamander · 22/07/2024 12:57

Thanks all! Our doc is amazing and their Physician’s Assistant (first time I’ve experienced one of those!) has already called me, then we had a text exchange with more photos, and then another call, booked blood test this afternoon and starting antibiotics once prescription comes through too 😅 thanks for sense check on this, always reluctant to bother the GP!

I mean, fine, if you want to take antibiotics. But those just look like a reaction to a mozzie or midge bite. They don't look infected, they just look like a reaction. Did you take antihistamines first??

Look up skeeter syndrome.

My daughter has this. Did you ever find out what it is?

Help please. My daughter has this. Did you ever figure out what it was?

If she has a bullseye rash get it checked by a doctor as could be lymes disease where you need antibiotics quickly.
