Football against fence

Hello,

My DS is 4 and has recently really gotten into football and has been enjoying kicking his ball around in the garden. We’re in a new build estate so there’s neighbours on every side.

No one has said anything but I know the sound of the ball occasionally hitting the fence is annoying our neighbours behind us as I can see them shutting all their doors and windows as soon as he starts playing. They’ve got a newborn and I want to try and make sure we’re as considerate as we can be!

We’ve got DS a goal to try and minimise the chance of the ball hitting the fence but it does sometimes still happen. He’s not kicking it particularly hard and we have spoken to him about trying to avoid hitting the fence. He’s normally only playing for about half an hour before he gets bored and moves on to something else.

is there anything we can do/buy to lessen the noise? I want him to play and to encourage his interest in practicing a sport he’s enjoying for however long it lasts, but at the same time I understand it can be annoying and frustrating feeling like you can’t enjoy your garden because of noise.

thanks!

Get him a ball on a cord.. Velcro round his ankle.. Or put a goal in the middle of the garden and some shrubs behind it.

This is really a non issue if it is only 30 mins and the occasional thud. My neighbour's kids are in the garden all day, in the paddling pool, shouting, screaming, bashing pots and pans in the mud kitchen. It's no big deal. I wouldn't worry.

We can always hear our neighbour even just kicking the ball, hope he keeps it up, as a mother with screen addicted kids I think it’s lovely! (Sorry no help!!)

Take him to a field or dont play football in the garden. But then again it wont be a full leather football at age 4 is it?
