Worried move to UC /money

I'm so worried about moving over to UC. I think in my case im going to be worse off. I know there's that migration protection payment but I think that's only for the first payment?

I think there's a 5 week gap till I get a first payment. I'm worried about the rent side of things. I think logically I would be ok.

I have been trying to save a bit . Because I really don't want to get an advance as its just another debt

I do have child benefit, dla to fall back om so im not in the worst position.

I think its more the unknown and managing things differently and that initial wait.

I wouldn't automatically assume you will be worse off we migrated over a few months ago and are considerably better off and then waiting wasent to bad if you need an advance I think you just pay it off over a period of time

The advance can now be paid back over 2 years so it’s not as much of a monthly reduction as it used to be. A fair few people are better off on UC.

It depends on how many children you have though. I think if you have a few children you are worse of.

I think its more of the change really. the unknown. Probably the whole hassle of getting things sorted. Etc

Tbh I was dreading but it was a fairly simple process ,I think the transitional protection lasts a year .

I know it varies but we are another family quite a bit better off on UC than I was on Tax Credits. I had a lot of questions to answer and an interview to change from Tax Credits. The system isn’t bad when you get the hang of it but you do have to log in and update things regularly so it’s different in that way. My main advice would be to respond to requests for information and evidence promptly so things aren’t held up in that way. Hopefully it won’t be too disruptive for you.

Not looking forward to an interview. I get carers allowance so I'm worried about that. I also told you have to provide ID I don't have driving licence or passport. So I'm worried that will delay things.
