Anyone had this happen before? just a bit confused!

Just want to say I haven't ordered anything online for a long time (a few years at least!) so I'm not expecting any parcels..

Two weeks ago the Postie came with a massive box, just a plain cardboard box with nothing on it other than my name and address. Asked if he was sure it was for me, he looked and said it was so I took it in.

Opened it and it was empty. No return address, No paperwork, No company name, no packing, just nothing. Gave it to my cat and got on with my life.

Then the same thing happened. and again, and again.. I now have 8 boxes.

Somebody, Somewhere is sending absolutely massive empty boxes to me and I have no clue why! I just wanted to know if anything like this has happened to anyone else?!

How weird !

OlgaBracley · 20/07/2024 19:19

That must be unsettling.
Is it a printed label or hand written?

Grazianoscubanheel · 20/07/2024 19:20

Are the labels typed? All sounds a bit BBC drama.

It's printed. Also forgot to say I live alone so nobody else is ordering anything.

It's your cat ordering more and more toys.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 20/07/2024 19:23

Ahh I think this is the new Action Man, OP.

The Army Deserter edition 😏

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 20/07/2024 19:23

Could the cat be ordering boxes on your behalf?
I know they like boxes.
A lot.

OlgaBracley · 20/07/2024 19:24

Would it be worth asking the postman if he has delivered other similar sized boxes with no weight in them to anywhere else in the neighbourhood?

mondaytosunday · 20/07/2024 19:26

Why not refuse the next one?
I was once sent some medicine (looked like antidepressants). Loads in a box. No idea - never been on them. I just threw them out (or gave them to a pharmacy to dispose of can't remember).

I’ve heard of a brushing scam , companies send empty packages so that you become a confirmed buyer on sites such as Amazon. They can then write a review in your name.

OneOpenPlumOrca · 20/07/2024 19:27

Have you pissed anyone off lately?I can see someone doing this as a cheap way to be a pain in the arse

IsThisNameTaken · 20/07/2024 19:29

I used to do market research for the royal mail that involved posting empty boxes to people. You are given pre-printed labels with addresses on and are supposed to put a piece of paper in the box with a reference number on it. I wonder if your address has wrongly been put on the labels?

It's certainly not cheap these days.
Postal charges are eye-wateringly uncomfortable, not unlike your reference to 'pain in the arse'

Nevermine · 20/07/2024 19:34

Some company inflating their successful delivery stats?

doitwithlove · 20/07/2024 19:49

If anymore arrive, refuse them, tell the deliver/post person you are refusing delivery

leeverarch · 20/07/2024 19:54

Seal it back up, write 'RETURN TO SENDER' on it in large letters with a marker pen, and take it to the post office.

Just make sure your cat's not in it at the time.😂
