My daughter has just started her periods. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tracker app she could have on her phone? (Android) Thanks

What’s the point?

What’s the point?

Presumably so the youngster can anticipate her next period and plan activities around that. Not everyone wants to swim and ride horses during their period

I use the free version of Clue.

What’s the point?

So she gets to know what's normal for her? So she's not embarrassed and can advocate for herself if she needs medical treatment?

We get far too many girls at work who are suffering hugely but have no idea that what's happening to them is not normal. And then when some of them finally go to the doctor, they're told it's perfectly normal and all part of being a woman/will be fine when they have a baby. Having consistent data over a long duration showing they're coming every 3 weeks/are lasting 12 days/this particularly painful one is 4x the usual duration/is completely outside her usual cycle goes some way in counteracting the tendency to dismiss female gynaecological issues and pain.

What’s the point?

It's important for all women to track their cycle and be familiar with it, not just for pregnancy related reasons. Confused

I like Clue OP - no fluffy language or focus on conceiving.

Most trackers will pinpoint the fertile part of the month, so I'd mention from the off that that's just a guess and may not be accurate for her as a bit of future proofing!

Exactly this. Thank you

The point being that you can prepare yourself so you she doesn't get caught out at school. We use P tracker for the last couple of years , my DS wears period knickers in the lead up to it .

Also as she suffers with pains etc , we use it so i can see when she's due on and avoid that week when booking holidays so we know she can enjoy her holiday without her period .

I use Flo which is quite good!

DD (12) uses Clue. She finds it useful to record when her period starts and stops - still a bit irregular - so she can have an idea of when to expect it. It's shown her that it's not precisely predictable and lets her see that if her period is probably due in a few days, the. It might be an idea to take SanPro out/away with her.

I also use Flo for myself but I wouldn't want my 11 year old to use it due to some of the articles and content within the 'insights' and 'secret chat' areas.

Surely she can just use the calendar on her phone.

That wouldn't work , the app we use predicts after so long when the next period will be . Also I would have been relying on my 10 year old to work out her cycle . As it is , she wears her period pants a couple of days before her period day and night and so she's not caught out .

Also, helps us plan holidays so that we don't have to deal with her period while away . Your calendar doesn't do that .

I use the free "period tracker by gp apps" it's really easy to use.
You can add in symptoms and include if your flow is light or heavy, etc
