Son twitching when falling asleep. Is this normal?

I usually ie beside my 8 year old after his bedtime story until he falls asleep and have noticed that on two of the last 3 nights, just as he's fallen asleep, he's started jerking, mainly around his shoulders and arm. Seems to stop after a minute or so, but I'm really worried these are seizures as afaik they've never happened before. He's non verbal and his sleeping pattern has been pretty bad over the past week or so, so he is over tired.
Am I worrying About nothing?

I wonder if you could video the twitches to share with your gp for reassurance? I think that some types of twitches or jumps can be considered normal as you fall asleep but it would be best to get it checked out by a professional.

I think this is pretty normal. My son and husband do it while falling asleep all the time. You could definitely get some reassurance from GP though if you are worrying.

Take a video and share with your GP. They can be harmless twitching that 70% of people experience whilst falling asleep, or myoclonic seizures.

My son (autistic and ADHD) sometimes gets 'tics' like this when he's anxious or tired.

Definitely film and speak to your GP. They maybe nothing. They maybe something. But he is your baby and without some answers you will worry.

My husband does this all the time, it's incredibly annoying as I often get a prod or a kick. Sleep myoclonic jerks, as far as I know they are pretty normal.

I think I would be less worried if he'd always done it, but seems to have came out of the blue. Will defo try to film it (so long as he doesn't realise I have phone in bed!), that's a good idea.
His fathers legs do twitch/kick every 30 seconds when he falls asleep for about an hour, but this seems to be my wee boys shoulders/arms.
