What do we think?

It has a faintly Poirot look about it. I think it's gorgeous, but it's another one that would need a live-in window cleaner. Omaze do like a house with a lot of glass😀.

I'd love to eat breakfast on the terrace with that view of the sea, though - even if most of the year I'd be wearing a duffle coat.

The credit checking etc of winners is because there's a risk of money laundering with any lottery. Either through brute force multiple ticket purchase (unlikely but theoretically possible) or through offering a large sum of money to the actual winner to hand over the ticket.

Triptastico · 26/08/2024 15:01

I'm not fussy I'd like to win any of the houses and in my plan always plan to relocate wherever they are. Although realistically I'm not sure that's possible.

Just being nosey - how much do you pay to enter each month?

In the past I've paid £25, £20 but now I'm
down to £10. I thought I heard a winner say " not bad for a £10 ticket" Do we ever know how much they pay a month? I know it only takes one number but I wonder if there's an optimum amount.

New one at the Wirral looks gorge

martinisforeveryone · 18/10/2024 20:20

Has anyone found the location of the Wirral house yet?

lazysummerdayz · 19/10/2024 14:07

@martinisforeveryone

Yes it's in Caldy - Rockmount Thorswell Caldy - if you Google maps it you can clearly see it as it's actually over 10 years old

Apparently was on the market long time (couple of years) before axe obviously bought it

lazysummerdayz · 19/10/2024 14:08

My concern with the Wirral one with it being over 10 years old is things like maintenance costs - you get £250k cash but having to replace the roof or windows would easily eat up half of that

Presumably it's "win as seen" so you immediately become liable for the repairs if it's not in that golf a condition externally

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 19/10/2024 15:49

The Wirral one looks a bit less impressive than their others, but guess it’s a location thing.

id have it on the market ASAP if I won. (And it would sell, just cut the price.)

Pic 39 is looking like tired wood

ShyMaryEllen · 20/10/2024 10:09

So many of these houses have a lot of outside space with furniture. Lovely on a summer's day, but what do you do when it rains? Do you have to rush out and cover it, bring it in (to where?) or just leave it there to rot? A wooden dining table isn't going to last long if it's constantly left out in the rain on a terrace.

I can imagine that the house must have sheds or outbuildings for the outside furniture to go into ! It's definitely something I'd look for , but the chances of me winning are very scant ( Dh does go in for it though !)

martinisforeveryone · 20/10/2024 10:56

Thanks everyone who posted the location. I do love The Wirral and would be happy to win, but yes, as someone up above said, it looks like a house with particular ongoing maintenance issues. The brochure photos from when it was for sale show that quite clearly.

I love the big windows for the views, but am someone who covers the windows just as soon as it gets dark, so not sure how that'd work for us, especially in the long winter evenings.

The main bedroom has lovely views, but I can't imagine lying in bed with the curtains open looking at them.

The 'spare' bedrooms (ie not the main or the guest room) are an awkward shape, too. From memory they are something like 16'x9', which is very long and narrow, and they are all lined up like a hotel corridor. A double bed would struggle in any of them, unless it went up against the back wall - otherwise there would be access issues.

I'm not keen on the circular sofa either. It would be great for having friends round, but unless you want to go to the cinema room to watch Eastenders it's not very useful for family life, and when it gets worn and shabby it will be a nightmare to get another one to fit the space.

I wouldn't complain if I won it though - it would go straight up for sale for £2m, and I'd buy something very different and more useable for me.

I couldn't be arsed to drag out huge tables and sofas to sit outside for an hour or two though. I don't think I'm cut out for a life of luxury😂

@ShyMaryEllen I totally agree with your comments on the lay out. I also prefer some separation between living areas.

Walkingtheplank · 20/10/2024 11:20

I think the Wirral house is the first one I wouldn't want to win. It looks like a money pit. I'd be selling it ASAP before it started costing me to maintain it. I think the outcome if this one will be interesting.

Every other house I think I've been able to imagine living in or keeping as a holiday home and getting rental income from.

Inanun2 · 20/10/2024 11:23

I have bought a few tickets for the houses I like - not sure why as not expecting h to win. But do they actually inform the winners or do you have to check website to see if you have won - if that’s the case I could win and never know as am unlikely to ever check !

ThisOldThang · 20/10/2024 12:11

It looks modern and fairly low maintenance to me. What are the problems that other people are seeing?

martinisforeveryone · 20/10/2024 12:56

@ThisOldThang go through the gallery of photos on the agent's brochure above. Here's one example. Obviously Omaze have done it up since then, but if that was after 10 years or so, it looks like it'll need quite regular maintenance work to keep it smart and that's without thinking about all the windows, insulation, heating system etc.

ThisOldThang · 20/10/2024 17:02

I've looked at the floor plan and I think the bedrooms are a usable size.

A King Size bed is 1.5m x 2m and the bedrooms are 5m x 3m.

You could have a bed sideways in the room and still have a 1m wide gap to walk around the foot of the bed. 80cm is considered to be the minimum corridor width before things start feeling cramped. You could also place a King Size bed with the headboard against the inside wall to give a view directly out of the window.

The only awkward thing would be making it work with a wall of integrated storage. I think the architects should have factored that in with the position of the door and the width of the windows. It's quite a big cock up and would cost a fortune to resolve.

ShyMaryEllen · 20/10/2024 17:07

They could be used as guest rooms, but I think it would be tricky otherwise. Maybe a teenager could have a bunk with a desk or wardrobe underneath, but for a luxury house they wouldn't be great for adult bedrooms.

You could knock two together and make a large room, though, so the house would have three good sized doubles and a single.

@ThisOldThang

It looks modern but it's actually over 10 years old which means anything like windows doors and roof is well outside the warranty period and coming to the end of its life cycle and are going to be expensive to replace
