Local commissioner just won't reply to me...ever...aargh!

I work in a healthcare setting as a manager and am responsible for negotiating funding etc. to improve our services. I had a good relationship to our previous commissioner but it changed to someone in the new year. And she will. not. reply to me. I emailed her when she first started to introduce myself, welcome her and update her with what me and the old commissioner were planning. No response. I followed this up 6 weeks later...no response. I emailed her about something else a couple of month ago..no response.

We had a local area meeting with her and other heads of department and she was chatting and joking with some of them like old friends- they obviously spoke A LOT and were in touch constantly. I wasn't acknowledged in the meeting and wasn't sent the minutes for it (I know they have been sent out as a colleague from another service has them...!). I emailed the commissioner for the minutes...NO RESPONSE.

I am getting so annoying. I have always been nice, professional and friendly in all my emails. Other services getting more funding or input as they are pally with the commissioner seems so unfair. Where do I go from here???

Phone her. If no answer leave a vm. Keep ringing her every day until she answers.
You need to speak to her and she can't get away with ignoring you. It's unprofessional.

Did you try to speak to her at the meeting?

I tried to join in with the meeting but it was primarily an update by some of the services so I didn't really get a chance to!

Send a registered letter asking for the best way to contact her as her email address and phone number don't seem to be getting through. Give a quick summary of the most urgent issues and the timeline by which you need to have input from her. Give options for her not getting back to you, eg if I haven't heard from you by x date I will assume it is ok to go ahead with y action / I will seek advice/direction from z person instead.

Does she have a PA? Arrange a meeting through them.

Registered letter is a bit passive aggressive. A read receipt email is more appropriate.

This .

Copy her line manager, and the one above if necessary, into everything until you get what you're asking for, assuming you're entitled to it

Why do you leave it so long to chase up. Six weeks on one issue and then two months on another. Surely if you need to interact with her on work issues you need to be more proactive.

BobbyBiscuits · 16/07/2024 14:47

@ChefsKisser honestly, just pretty much stalk her. Ive called someone for a month with no reply, but I kept on it and eventually they have to give. Be polite but firm. I need to speak to you about xyz, when is good for you to talk?
Don't feel guilty about it. She should not be ignoring you!

You needed to nip up to her at the end of the meeting with a breezy ‘hi, I’m having trouble getting through to you, shall we put something in the diary now?’
