What is the maximum length of time that you would leave your dog alone at home for?

When my dog was a pup we were told no more than 4 hours, now that she’s a bit older we can go for up to 7 in cage (this is once in a few months though)

That's awful poor dog.

I've got 2 dogs and they are 6 years old and laid back. They have a dog flap.so can go in and out into a large garden. I can leave them for 6 hours at a time and I've checked ked with neighbours but they don't bark.or howl. They keep each other company. I expect I could leave them even longer in an emergency. They snooze a lot especially after a long early morning walk. I sometimes leave the TV on for them.

Normally no more than three or four hours, and that's uncommon, but they can be left 8 if need be. They are calm, no separation anxiety.
I wouldn't leave a dog every day like that.

My boy will happily tolerate 4 hours in his crate if we go out during the day could possibly push it more but haven't had the need in the day. If we know it's going to be longer we use doggy daycare or an overnight in kennels.
Evening we have left him 19.30-02.30 to go to a gig and went to the after party, gave him a big walk first and was still snoring when we rolled home!! (Checked cameras regularly that he wasn't stressing)

Think it also depends on how long they can go without needing the toilet.

We leave ours for no longer than 4hrs, but his bladder could go about 6 or 7 hrs .

He just sleeps if we are out (and if we are in to be fair...)
