Just heard on breaking news some sort of quite serious incident at Trump rally. Shots fired. Trump seeems to be badly shaken up. And general panic. Very worrying. Hope nobody is hurt

What and they just killed a member of the public to make it plausible?

actually, yes, I think they would do that, several people died when the capitol building was stormed. And the Trump supporters would certainly have killed more if they had had their way

DemBonesDemBones · 14/07/2024 07:13

@BusyCM well he is a psychopath so maybe...but I was thinking more along the lines of no one died at all.

Because it's a stunt to gain more support? Cynical but I wouldn't put it past him.

Really? I mean, really?

He’s covered in blood. It’s not a stunt. It’s an assassination attempt. He was lucky the first bullet didn’t take his head off.

He survived and he’s a quick thinker (contrary to the opinions of those who hate him). He knows he has to look strong. So he did.

You mean they've lied that someone died? I saw an interview with someone who was next to him. Says he was killed instantly with a shot to the head.

That photo of him with the fist and the flag above..... just feels impossible??!!

"rubbish, a surge of adrenalin is a completely normal reaction. That is exactly what adrenalin is for, make you get up and fight in a dangerous situation when you are injured"

  • it's more the secret service seeking to do nothing to protect the upper half of the former president. (Or is this his own, ill-trained security?) Surely the first thing you do is block view of his body with your own body and obscure the view of critical areas like chest and head, with hands / jackets or anything else? The woman looks like she is ducking for personal cover under him, and the man like he doesn't think there is any threat, while most of them are behind him..... and to have the flag right there (someone is still waving a flag, rather than protect themselves, after guns going off, despite it being long enough after for all the security guards to be there?) and the photographer fabulously placed, and not diving for cover or knocked over in the panicked rush.... I'm not normally ATALL a conspiracy theorist...

But I'm saying this with no expertise, and carelessly, having not seen a video version which might explain all this.... and yes iconic photos happen for real sometimes... it's just soooo in line with how Trump wants to brand himself.... let's just say either way, he's a very very lucky man.

Yes you're wrong.

He ducks, they bundle on top of him for a bit, they get word that the shooter has been 'neutralised' and they support him to stand and move off the stage.

Listen I hate Trump as much as the next guy, but we have to be honest when reporting what happened.

financialcareerstuff · 14/07/2024 07:56

Seen the video now. It's a good couple of mins after the shooting. He made them stop while exiting to pump his fist in the air. The security behind him seems to agree to pause for the photoshoot. Did Trump pump his fist so hard he actually hits the woman security guard in the face, which is why I think she is crunched over in front of him instead of blocking? Or did she bend over to pick something up? Either way, it was conscious on Trumps part to grab that moment, and incompetent on security's part to enable a second exposure, with the possibility of another sniper waiting on that side.

financialcareerstuff · 14/07/2024 07:58

Fair enough but it was a conscious photoshoot from trump (all credit to him, in the moment!). And weak security.

The "made them stop" bit is the problem. Nobody makes the secret service do anything. You don't get a choice in the matter. Their only job is to keep him safe, even if it means losing their own lives.

The fact that he'd just been shot exposed major flaws in their security coverage of the event, even if the shooter was neutralised. The answer is not to pause and leave him uncovered while photos are taken.

I'm not saying it was planned, I'm saying something went very wrong.

He wasn't 'covered in blood'. It was barely a graze. All those shots fired and none properly hit him? All too convenient. JFK, Reagan, Lincoln...but Trump only gets a boo boo on his ear?

Viviennemary · 14/07/2024 10:58

I think it's not as cut and dri3d as it appears. Let's face it a lot of folk don't want Trump.

It's a Trump rally there's USA flags everywhere!

Offtheroof · 15/09/2024 23:17

I'm no fan of Trump, so I guess if you don't like his politics, his hair or his attitude towards women it's ok to wish him dead. That is if you are a moronic, nasty, utter piece of sh**t.

Viviennemary · 07/10/2024 11:08

Well I hope he gets in. At least it will wipe that manic grin of Kamala Harris' s face for a while.
