I’m a teacher , I’m leaving a school and want to get a gift for my TA and the other 2 year group teachers . I’m off out now so something I can grab in shops !

I was thinking a little “survival” pack , something funny .

So far I have thought of - coffee ( to stay awake! )

sanitiser - for the sneezes ( one TA had a child sneeze shot directly on her arm so it’s a bit of a joke we have )

Mini wine - for the end of a long day

An emergency glue stick - glue is like gold dust in our school !

can you think of anything else ?

Small packs of tissues
Chocolate
Biscuits

Headache tablets
Earplugs
Tissues
Handcream
Pens
Chocolate

But would they actually like a survival pack? I know i'm being a but grumpy here, but it's not a very personal gift. If you've worked with these staff members for a year then i'm sure you know if they'll enjoy it, but it feels more like an end of year gift from a parent rather than a colleague.

Yes I am going to add chocolate , tissues would be good too ( for the colds that come in September ! )

I want to add a little tag to each - like “ when you need a Monday afternoon boost “ for the chocolates , “ for the 300 colds you’ll get during in September alone “ for the tissues etc .

Maybe a pack of paracetamol for “ when the maths work is full of reasoning questions “

I was thinking ear plugs “ for THOSE lessons “

obviously all very tounge in cheek ! We love the children x

I wouldn't want any of that. I would much rather have a bottle of wine or some chocolate.
You could attach a label to the wine saying " we survived!"

Edited

I’ve only worked with them for a few months , I’m a long term supply . So , I don’t really know them on a personal level but they are all lovely and we’ve got through this year with humour - it feels more appropriate to do something funny as I don’t know them to talk to outside of work , so I don’t know what they like , if they drink wine or what Chocs they like etc . It’s been a running theme with us that the class are very challenging so we have all kind of got by on humour which is why I thought something funny would be best .

Also , I’m poor with the summer coming up 🤣

See I don’t really know if they drink and as for chocolates - there is always so much chocolate and cake in the staff room, the head buys everyone chocolates at the end of the year and the end of year gifts have already started coming in and it’s chocolates galore !

In which case, a card each with a note telling them how much you've appreciated them etc and something like nice post it notes .
Honestly, I would never expect anything from a supply teacher.

Procrastinates · 13/07/2024 10:58

Honestly as nice a thought as you think this is I would just get them a card and if you want a gift get some flowers or a £10 Amazon voucher. The amount you'd spend on making the survival kit would probably far exceed that.

I’d rather just have a thank you note or one box of chocss. All the little things you are mentioning are things that people have or buy themselves, not really gifts imo, and would end being expensive.
A hear felt thank you and an email to the head telling them how great the TAs are would be better imo.

I think it’s a lovely idea! When I left my post, I bought something personal for my staff and there were 26 of them, so it was a challenge! I also ordered a hamper of retro sweets. We had a weekly team meeting with coffee and biscuits and I thought they’d enjoy the sweets as a change. They did.

Just an update - I did give them and they loved them! They were all laughing and said they thought it was amazing 🤩
