Hi all
Needing a bit of a pick me up tonight. Tell me some lovely things or positive things that have happened for you today?

OP posts:

DS1 won "reader of the term" for his (Y2) class in assembly today.

Sadly he wasn't actually in assembly to get his prize as he has been off sick with a vomiting bug, (much better today but still within 48 hours), but DS2 was there and was so excited to tell him when they got home!

Watched DD(4) at her dance class - she just has so much fun and is trying so hard to follow along, it's just joyful 😊

KnitFastDieWarm · 12/07/2024 21:55

I met my best friend’s two week old baby for the first time 😍

Arrived home from a day looking after the DGC, which I love doing, to find a card through the post from one them thanking me for being the best Nanny!

Popped into our local for an after work drink to find there was a musician singing in the garden, very talented and unexpected

These are beautiful to read, each and every one of these posts, just what I needed to see today. @WhatHaveIFound I can imagine how lovely that must have been.
I had a rare morning off with my DH and after saying I felt we had been a bit distant with each other (ships passing in the night type thing), he made a huge effort to have fun and I suppose it felt like when we first met. When you laugh together and chat. Also sitting next to my little boy on the sofa this evening, I noticed him inch closer bit at a time and he put his head on my lap and laid quietly having his hair stroked. It's not something I've seen him do before.

I lost my beloved gran last year and I have really struggled with grief. It’s been such a hard year, and haven’t had any family support really besides my mum. I have a lovely vicar friend who has really taken care of me and brought me back to myself and today she hugged me, let me talk, let me cry on her. She then took her hand cream out of her bag and rubbed it into my hands - it was such a kind, gentle gesture. She said she used to do it when she used to work in nursing for patients in hospital who were feeling very low and unwell (when their treatment allowed it of course), and would perhaps bot think to put any on themselves, and it always made them feel better. It really did.

I took my lovely wee 76 year old neighbour out for a nice lunch and chat.

NChange10 · 12/07/2024 22:16

My DD was lovely to me. After 5 years of moods.

emmetgirl · 12/07/2024 22:18

I spent a few hours with my perfect granddaughter!

Hippee · 12/07/2024 22:23

Was given a little crochet heart by a student (that she'd made) to thank me.

Shannith · 12/07/2024 22:25

Two people at work told me I was brilliant and that they were in awe of me. I'm pretty senior so don't normally get that kind of feedback.

Emelene · 12/07/2024 22:26

I got to tell my academic supervisor that my first academic paper I’ve written from scratch has been accepted for publication (without revisions!), after a 6 month wait to hear the outcome. It’s a big milestone and he was so proud. 😊 Couldn’t have done it without him.

Shannith · 12/07/2024 22:26

Oh and a fox cub ran across the lane on my walk back from the station.

JaffaCake70 · 12/07/2024 22:27

It's been my first day of feeling well after being unwell for almost 2 weeks.

I cuddled our dog on the settee, he's a very affectionate Daschund.

My Husband bought my favourite egg custards and made us a lovely curry for dinner.

I spent a big part of the day looking at old photo's of family and sending them to our family WhatsApp group, prompting much chatter and banter 😂

I'm about to read a good book and then (hopefully) drift off into a peaceful sleep next to my amazing Husband ❤️

828Pax · 12/07/2024 22:27

Had a coffee with friends this morning and laughed so much I gave myself a stitch!

DCINightingale · 12/07/2024 22:29

My 5yo neurodiverse DS walked into his school building today talking to a classmate. For the first time! Totally normal for most kids but DS has blue steeled his way in and out of school for 2 years, so this was just wonderful for me to see.

RabbitsRock · 12/07/2024 22:31

Lovely thread OP. Only a small thing but made me happy - thought I was running out of my favourite summer perfume but then I found a new bottle that I’d hidden from DD15!

GreenMarigold · 12/07/2024 22:32

I took my cat to the vets for his annual check up and the receptionist greeted us as we entered. The cat meowed back in a funny way that sounded just like ‘hello’. The whole waiting room had a right giggle over it.

Mukirinessly · 12/07/2024 22:34

I’m ill and needed a GP appointment. My DH got up early, left me asleep, and he went down to the surgery. He came back and told me I had an appointment all sorted. ❤️

leeverarch · 12/07/2024 22:35

I went for a walk this afternoon and in the hedgerow, among a sea of ten thousand bright green ones, I found a single ripe blackberry.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 12/07/2024 22:36

congratulations GoogleWhacking 🎉

The wild raspberries at the canal are really good & distracted the moody teens so they admitted to enjoying the walk despite it being ridiculously hot.

BadBarry · 12/07/2024 22:38

My daughter and I had a lovely day together in general, she's 4.
We talked about how babies grow, what happened when she was born, she got mad at me a few times as well (I won a game) and she wanted pudding after eating only her condiments but none of her dinner...her cuddles are wonderful.

fuzzybritches · 12/07/2024 22:41

Trying to potty train my toddler and as she pissed on the toilet she said 'you're pretty mama' 🥰

TokyoSushi · 12/07/2024 22:43

DD got amazing SATS results including 120/120 in maths. She'd worked really hard and taken them very seriously even though I was very much of a 'do your best and that'll be absolutely fine' attitude. I'm so pleased that her hard work paid off - she's delighted!

I re-visited an exercise class that I'd found really complicated last time, this time it wasn't complicated at all - I'm going back!
