My son is 21 in a week. Guess what he’s brought home..?

Nits.

Fucking NITS.

I’ve just spent the last few hours treating them.

I assumed this wouldn’t happen once the teen years had passed.

I am mightily confused.

We’re not buzz cutting - his hair is longer than mine (and mine is waist length) and is a thing of beauty.

He had the same length hair during his primary school nit phase so it’s something I’m used to.

I shall sit and comb.

I shall spend the day sitting up like a meercat whenever I hear a noise outside hoping it’s my special combs…

😂😂. There’s always one. Nits are common in primary school, pretty much those kids aren’t catching them from having sex !

Primary children touch heads.

nit lotion and combs were given out by student health 40 years ago with condoms as both were a bonking fresher precaution

Ansjovis · 12/07/2024 09:01

I work with children and so I've had them twice as an adult. I thought the same as you did, that my days of nits were behind me when I left primary school but nope.

He’s had these nuts for a while…

A little over 21 years in fact.

I think its noble of you to do this for him, but why can't he just shave / buzz his hair off and be done with it?

I'd do that and I'm a vain female whose hair was ruined with nit treatments when I caught it off my then small people.

Really? I’m also a vain female and after discovering the amazing clarifying properties of nit lotion when forced to use it when the dc were little and brought nits home, have been known to use it purely for extreme swishy hair purposes.

@SoupDragon laughing so so hard 😂

My dd was at a primary school for work experience, so late teens. She had a really itchy head but we assumed it was due to her medication for chronic pain. It wasn't. Her head was teeming with nits! I spent the evening covering her hair with conditioner and combing every single one out. It still makes me shiver at the thought. Hope your combs come soon

Better than the clap, I guess...

Sympathies. My student son home for summer brought scabies ! A mild case but scabies no less. A few of his pals were much worse. We dealt with early thank god and no one else caught it but I spent WEEKS washing everything daily as a precaution . Apparently its common in student halls

I feel your pain!

I'm currently treating the scabies that I've caught from my student son.

He's had them for months and still thinks he has a few live ones.

Tis a feckin nightmare.

Sorry but poor you 🤣🤣

Such a disappointment- the first thing that popped into my head for some reason was a baby seagull. I think it’s because I am projecting. I would love one.
