Was she on antibiotics for the UTI? Perhaps try some probiotics.

I think I remember your last post. Have you taken her back to the GP?

Echodaisy7 · 11/07/2024 22:28

Sometimes one course of antibiotics isn't enough to clear a UTI. If she's still got symptoms, I'd go back to the GP. She may need more antibiotics/a different type.

She’s had 3 lots I think she now has it in her head that she needs to keep going because she is just dribbling when she’s going

I did take her to urgent care at the hospital and back and forward to the gp

Is she drinking lots, tired, any weight loss? Has she had her blood sugar checked?

bigmammycool · 11/07/2024 22:56

Get her blood glucose checked. How old is she?

Jotkaur · 12/07/2024 03:04

She drinks ok not too much just with meals she has had her sugar checked last week so that has been ruled out she could sleep through before the last couple of days too and now she is getting up at least twice in the night she has just turned 8 xx

Back to the GP I think OP, too many possible causes so it needs properly investigating. Maybe try some D-mannose in the meantime, see if that eases her discomfort a bit.

Jotkaur · 12/07/2024 12:10

I’ve taken her nearly 3 times last week the go reakons she is well in herself and this will just be a phase because of the water infection

A continence nurse or a physio experienced in this stuff a la Saint Elaine Miller may help.

Sometimes an overworked sphincter needs help to relearn its job.

Happyinarcon · 12/07/2024 12:15

Could it be stress related? There’s a urinary condition whose name I forget that my daughter suffered from around the same age which is down to anxiety. They don’t need the toilet when at home, but constantly need it when away from a toilet. Turned out to be a bullying situation at her primary school that had kicked off some awful anxiety.

Jotkaur · 12/07/2024 13:14

Now that you have mentioned this there is a specific girl who is bullying the whole group of friends and this is been going on for a couple of months she does have anxiety because she is biting her nails and looks rather worried all the time different to her normal self she is usually bubbly and happy. She has come home and mentioned this a few times now and I have also had calls from her teacher regarding this did your daughter grow out of this condition if you don’t mind me asking? How long did it last? And what did you do to help the situation do you think just not mention it infront of her? Xx

Get her to drink more water. When your urine is very concentrated due to dehydration this can irritate the bladder and make you feel like you need to go when you don't.

Jotkaur · 12/07/2024 13:16

And just let her keep going as many times as she needs to go? Sorry I don’t seem to sound anxious but it’s been going on for too long now I worry everyday! Shall I try not to take any notice of it?

OP posts:
Jotkaur · 12/07/2024 13:17

Thanks you balloon hearts I will definitely be getting water down her xx

How old is your DD? (sorry didn't see your previous thread). We had this with my DD and I kept thinking it was a UTI. In actual fact it was constipation (she was still going, just not getting it all out apparently) and this was causing her to feel like she needed to wee all the time. Got some laxatives from the Dr and it sorted out the frequent need to pee issue. Worth looking into if you haven't already.

Sago1 · 12/07/2024 13:42

You can buy urine testing strips from Amazon, really useful if you want to rule out an infection.
There is always the possibility of kidney stones these can cause infection and frequent urination.
D-Mannose is brilliant and safe for children to take.

I let her go as often as she needed even multiple times in shopping centres or stopping the car at road services. I was always very patient. I took her out of that school because the teachers did nothing to tackle the bullying. That was about 6 years ago and I would say it’s taken a while for her nervous system to calm down completely but she is doing fine. I guess school in general creates a lot of anxiety so it’s difficult for kids to completely detox

Jotkaur · 21/07/2024 23:13

Thanks that has made me feel better but she has good and bad days atm she is suffering from a stomach bug and high temp so she is knocked out with neurofen so at the min it’s forgotten but then some days she can go like 10 times but I hope it soon just cuts down and comes to an end xxx
