Tooth extraction

Anyone had a tooth extraction? Do you ever get used to it? I had my back molar (not wisdom tooth) pulled 2 months ago and the gum still makes me feel a bit queasy and I’m very aware Of it

You get used to it. Had to have one removed recently. I hated it being removed but it was damaged. Molars are obviously bigger and the socket takes time to heal

Me too! Just feel so depressed about it and the gap feels huge

I had my back molar removed and it has been fine. Don't have any wisdom teeth though so there was already a gap there anyway.

Think my wisdom tooth being through makes it feel a lot worse really!

I had a back molar extracted a while ago, so I can relate to what you're going through. It can take some time for your gums to fully heal and get used to the new feeling. Feeling a bit queasy and being very aware of the area is normal. It took me a few months before the sensation started to feel normal. In the meantime, maintaining good oral hygiene and following any care instructions from your dentist can help. If the discomfort persists or you're concerned, it's always a good idea to check in with your dentist. Hang in there – it does get better with time!

The gap kinda goes over time, the gum kinda grows over it and the teeth often move to fill the gap

Beck2017 · 10/07/2024 22:10

I had the molars next to wisdom teeth out, was in agony until they were out, gap closed within 12 months and was pain free within 72 hours. My wisdom teeth ached a bit until they moved onto the gap x

Yep, you get used to it and it stops feeling weird. I've had two out and one eventually closed over completely and the other has left a sort of dent but feels completely fine

Had two out four months ago it still feels soft. I'm waiting for implants to be put in.

Thank you for this! It doesn’t hurt in particular, rather just being really aware of it (I keep running my tongue over the gap etc)

This is reassuring thank you! I was worried as the gum still feels a bit fresh, so it’s reassuring it gets better

This is reassuring thank you! Sounds gross but I’m constantly running my tongue over the gap and food keeps getting caught there so I’m constantly reminded

How long do you have to wait to heal before implants?

I go back end of August to have the screws put in and be measured for the teeth. So six months.

Hi Op, how you getting on? I just found out I am going to have to have my first molar extracted and not feeling too happy about it
