Bloody brilliant teachers

My son is in year 6 and this week they've been putting on their big end of year performances.

The teachers have worked so hard and they were so smiley, there were teachers there that didn't need to be there (including the nursery teachers, who seemed tearful that their once-little nursery classes are in year 6 and in their last couple of weeks of primary school) and they have just been brilliant.

Got them through their Sats, taken them on their residentials, extra trips, they've got a big trip on Friday. The reports ate due on Friday too.

They must be exhausted. But they were encouraging, cheerful and seemed super proud.

I'll be sad that all of my children are through primary school and we won't be part of that community any more.

Anyone relate?

100% Primary school is like this, sadly seniors isn’t!

Absolutely the case here. Just returned from the year six play. The TA deserved a medal. She stood at the back and performed every song lyric, every action and every word of the 90 minute play to guide the children.
As a parent I am exhausted from all the ‘extras’ this term, so the year 6 teachers really do have to go that extra mile.
It is shameful how woefully they are paid, for a job that requires you to be ‘on’ all the time and is arguably one of the most important in society.
I am in awe at the energy and enthusiasm displayed, despite being at school still at 8pm (that’s a 12 hour shift).

As a parent of a year 6 child I agree.

🙏🙏🙏🙏 teachers, TAs and support staff.

Absolutely, the TAs and support staff. How could I forget. They have been brilliant these last few weeks, especially (for us/my son).

I'm genuinely in awe.

You think secondary school teachers and TAs don't work hard? I'm just sitting here still working at 21:25 having left for work at 7:30 this morning. A lot of the dedication and hours your kids' teachers put in are not as visible as a school okay or an exciting trip. It's all hard work.

💯 agree. My DC's Y6 teacher has been/ is amazing. They are doing so much these last few weeks and the teachers are still smiling!

Thank you! 🙂 As a teacher this is a refreshing post. We adore your children and we generally feel sad about saying goodbye. We are exhausted and run down but this time of year is lovely. We've built a relationship with your children, seen them through their exams and now we get to relax slightly and have a joke and play games, perform and sing with them. It is such a bittersweet time. Excitement for the holidays but sadness at losing our lovely class. Thank you for appreciating us. We appreciate your children.

I feel like this about my DD’s SENDCo in secondary, as well as the teachers and LSAs she’s had. They’ve worked hard consistently throughout her time at the school but have outdone themselves to get the students through year 11, GCSEs, prom and so much more.

Well, you won't see me or others like me on the trips. But that's because we've done all of the background work to make sure that the trips/shows/events go ahead in the first place and the school continues to function.

Well, I went to a transition evening at my dcs new school and all of the teachers seemed similarly lovely (and in school late!). Maybe in 5 years you'll see a similar post about them.

I'm in the 'thank god for teachers' camp, for the hours they put in, their own family time often sacrificed, for the knowledge, the stamina. So thanks to you guys too!
