Have I installed this right?

Just bought an isofix joie spin car seat suitable from birth to 12 years. And I just can't seem to understand how to do the different settings. DS is currently 7 months old, whenever I come to take him out of the car when he's asleep, he looks like this.

I had a normal car seat before this which you use the belt to strap in and his head would stay completely back.

Have I installed this right?

Mine are adults so I'm not familiar with car seats like this.

I don't think I would want my infants head in that position whilst driving, it looks very uncomfortable.

If I recall, at that age mine were in a more of laid back position.

By the looks of this, you've taken the wedge insert out of the seat - I would put it back in. It should stay in until around 12-18 months.

This video shows the use of the insert very well. With the insert back in, his head won't fall forwards like that.

The seat in your picture is the Joie 360 Spin which is suitable up to 18kg which is around 4 years old - it doesn't convert up to 12 years.

You also have it on the middle recline position here, you can recline it further if you want to. I think once you put the insert in, you'll want to move the headrest up a little bit.

Do you have the manual? It’s pretty detailed.

Yes to keeping infant support in and the wedge as per limits in manual and recline it as far back as you can.

If you still get this issue I would stop using it as it’s not safe for your baby.

I used this seat and only this seat from birth at hospital and didn’t have this issue though.

Good idea to look at the manual - only one thing, that manual is for the i-Spin and OP has the original Spin 360, you can tell because it doesn't have the little pop out things at the side for side protection.

If you click on "How To & Support" here you can find the link to the manual Smile

I can also see in the original photo that the driver's seat is slightly reclined, if you make this more upright, you'll have more space to recline the child seat without needing to move the driver's seat forwards.

JuiceBoxJuggler · 11/07/2024 14:54

Your baby should never be behind the driver - how can you help/support quickly if needed?

Baby's head is bobbing too much. Put the insert back in, recline it further.

Move it to the passenger side and recline it back further. Wedge back in. That looks frankly dangerous.
