Learn to Drive Centres

Whilst idly googling drive experiences for my 16 year old I found perranporth driving centre. It’s basically private land with a replication of roads, junctions etc. So the idea is you take your child along in your own car and supervise them having a go. As it is in your own car it is much cheaper than normal driving experiences for dc too young to drive on the roads.
So my question is whether there are any more places like this, as I live 300 miles away from this one?

How about instead using https://www.youngdriver.eu/lessons_and_experiences

they are qualified driving instructors who can teach them the safe way to start driving. Both of mine did this and then Ds1 had around 14 hours of actual lessons once old enough and then could go in a car with me. We had a massive talk beforehand as to the terminology his driving instructor used so he understood what I needed him to do as I didn't have any pedals to control the car. That was his private practise, he still continued with his driving instructor until he passed his test.

I think the YoungDriver experience is great. We did 60 minutes at a time. Depending on where you are, we preferred ones that used a car park, so junctions and controlled corners rather than bombing it down a straight "road".

Because they are about 3 x the price! Not saying they don’t have their place but I am not made of money.

I'd be interested to hear the answers to your question too OP. Everyone knows about the drive experience days but they are extortionate!

If you are anywhere near East London/Essex there is this place Cardrome

They have been around for donkeys years. Their lessons for young drivers work out half the price of the young driver ones above, which are mainly more an "experience" than proper lessons. You can also take your own car and stay all day there. Its about £20 for the day I think.

There are several gypsy families who have set ups like this in the midlands. Most market them as young driver experiences under 16 but I’m sure they won’t care if you bring a 16-18 yo.

You used to be able to do this on any private land when I was a learner many years ago. A supermarket carpark was fair game when the supermarket weren't open 24/7 or a field to practice clutch control

I might be able to find a friendly farmer but I liked the idea of road marking to teach that side of things without traffic.
