I'm fed up with the weather and contemplating taking 3 months if I could find somewhere temperate but nice to go and just chill and live....maybe learn a language..

I'm thinking Italian Alps....

If I didn’t have kids and money no object and I didn’t care about CO2 emissions, wow! I guess I would spend four weeks getting really fit (PT) and then go on a group trek, South America or Vietnam or Canadian mountains.

You should repost this in Holidays group you’ll get some amazing answers!

I've recently had 16 months off following redundancy. I spent quite a bit of time catching up with friends I'd not seen since before covid, had a great holiday in Iceland, visited a lot of local museums and other sites, and things like that. Also did a three month course in something I was interested in.

I didn't expect to spend quite so long failing to find a job - was beginning to think "you came a close second," was going to be the permanent response. So I had to think about money, which rather curtailed things.

However in my younger years, I had 3 months out of work with Raleigh International, and a few years later after my father died, I spent 6 months travelling through Africa, Australia, NZ and Malaysia.

A friend took a month of unpaid leave to blitz all the DIY and decorating in his flat.

Career break in current situation ( 2 kids, 1 with SEN) do yoga, cycle and swim outside everyday, gut my house of all the clutter that's accumulated, turn garden into a paradise with lots of lovely nooks to sit, veg plot. Long hikes on kid free days and the weekend, take weekends away to a ll the corners of the country I've never been to. Long lazy days reading and writing, guitar lesson, the piano, the drums, juggle. I would love to do a PhD or another MA but having almost had a breakdown doing a part-time MA for 2 years while still working part-time and the kids...no way!

Fantasy career break without having to worry about the kids? A month in London visiting all the museums, exhibitions, parks, attractions I've ever wanted to, followed by theatre and gigs every night. I can make a break for the countryside or seaside at weekends if I start going too crazy in the city. Arvon foundation writing retreat to break it up!

Then a month in Portugal hiking, yoga, painting, reading, writing, playing guitar, surfing.

Then a month in Sweden, swimming in a lake everyday, yoga, hiking, reading and writing.

Buy an off road camper or caravan in Australia and travel around. There would be a good chance I'd forget I had to go back after 3 months.
