Trip to London ideas

Taking my Dd to London for her birthday in a couple of weeks. We are arriving 9.30am Saturday and leaving Sunday lunch time. We are booked in to see the frozen musical as she is frozen obsessed but this starts at about 2pm I think. I'm looking for something to do with her first. Originally I thought the natural history museum but the earliest available tickets are 11am so not sure if we will have time. I was thinking of an open bus tour but not sure if that takes up enough time. She will be 7. It's her first trip to London. Any suggestions appreciated!

Depends where you're travelling in from. A Thames Clipper trip is always fun, take it down to Greenwich or the Tower Of London.
Alternatively, walk up Regents St and have a mooch in Hamleys before popping into a nice cafe for a cake.

I think the open bus tour takes 2 hours but you can get on and off if you see places that interest you. How about the London Eye and the Aquarium? It the mummies in the British Museum?

Does she like to walk? And would she be interested in some iconic sights? Or would you rather an activity like Madame Tussaud’s or similar?

For walking you could start at Buckingham Palace and walk down St James Park to Big Ben. Along Whitehall & see the horses to Trafalgar Sq, up to Leicester Sq & be in Covent Garden for lunch, before heading to the show.

@Vanillalime this sounds like the kind of thing she would love. She recently learnt about the great fire of London at school and was absolutely obsessed with the story of it for ages. She loves history and would love to see some historical sites.

You want to head to Monument for the area of the great fire of London. While you are there there are some great places you can book for free for a high view of London- look up the Lookout on Bishopsgate, or the sky garden. And of course you have a geat view of Tower Bridge.

If she loves then great fire of London that you could go to Pudding Lane and climb the Monument to the great fire. It's just outside Monument tube station.

My daughter loved it. She also loved m and m world and the statues at covent garden/Leicester Square area. Sometimes some street theatre there too.

Or head to the Southbank and walk up to the London eye. Usually street performers along here. A carousel and a great book seller market.

You want to be fairly close to the theatre and try not to pack to much in and give yourself time to be curious.

Check the City of London Corporation website. They have a leaflet for a Great Fire of London walk which I think is online, and takes you where it started (Monument) and finished (by Smithfield market), with a lovely riverside route in between.

Tower of London? Southbank is always good. Paddington Immersive experience is meant to be great, and London Aquarium. London zoo has baby gorillas and lions at the moment. Kew Gardens is a lovely day out. Buckingham Palace maybe. Planetarium in Greenwich. Kidzania is Westfield is really fun too.
