I have had antibiotics for UTIs, but it just comes back.
There's no burning or stinging, and I am not specially active.
I just have to go constantly. Even though it's just a small amount, but I am so fed up.
I'm 33, so don't think it's age-related yet.
It's something I've just been putting up with, it's particularly bad in the morning and at night, I have to go 3 times before I leave for work and several times before I go to bed.
Has anyone managed to find a solution for this?

If its only at certain times of the day have you considered anxiety?

Bladder training could help x

Moier · 06/07/2024 12:43

If you do .. let me know.
I went eight times last night.. which is good for me.
My bladder is only child size ( age 10) and never grew.
I also have a prolapse bladder I'm waiting to see a specialist about.
I can't do a full wee in one go and have to sit for 5 minutes each time until I'm empty.
I suffer UTIs a lot.. get antibiotics then l get thrush.
I also suffer BV .. more antibiotics that give me thrush..
It's never ending.
I'm 66 and this had been my life.

It's all day, but it's particularly worse morning and night.

I will look into bladder training.
Sorry to hear others are going through it.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can result in needing to go often as it affects nerve endings. So maybe look into taking a supplement?

Diagnosed UTI with urine test or antibiotics because of symptoms?
Any more then 3 UTIs per year ( diagnosed on positive urine culture) is reason for a referral to a urologist or uro gynaecologist in Australia
Urodynamic studies would help with diagnosis and treatment plan.
Speak to your GP, if symptoms but no positive urine culture, could be a sign of an incompletely treated UTI or an overactive bladder.

Are you constipated without knowing it

ByCupidStunt · 06/07/2024 12:58

I'm incontinent and I just wear Tena Lady. If I don't make it to the toilet in time, no problem.

Dreamerinme · 06/07/2024 13:14

It sounds like an overactive bladder so see your GP again and have a look at the website Bladder Health UK.

longdistanceclaraclara · 06/07/2024 13:16

Overactive bladder? Are you you actually when you go?

fedupdontknowwheretoputmyself · 06/07/2024 13:21

Look up interstitial cystitis. I have this and have to avoid tea, coffee, orange juice, other acidic drinks, including wine and acidic foods.

Mine is under control now, but it took a while. I helped my bladder heal with marshmallow root herbal tea. I have bacteria buried in the lining of the bladder which then proliferate if I drink the problematic fluids. I treat this with uva ursi tincture (a urinary antiseptic) and it knocks the infection down.

Drink nothing but Evian water for 72 hours then keep to non irritant fluids going forward. Redbush tea can be drank instead of regular tea. Don't drink fruit teas. When the bladder is healed, you can probably get away with the odd tea or coffee. It's trial and error.

Oh join the club! I am incontinent - made worse by having to take water tablets. I hadn't taken them for a couple of days and took them this morning and now I come to work and am in and out of the bloody toilet!!!

I agree with this too, particularly if you've recently had a uti. What happens if you don't go a few times before bed?

Also , you may not be anywhere to completely emptying your bladder . I think there might be a few factors here.

Meem321 · 06/07/2024 15:16

See your doctor. There are short term medications for this. I think solefiniacin or something like that.

ButtSurgery · 06/07/2024 15:19

Can you self refer to the bladder team in your area? We can in Cornwall. Sounds like you need to speak to a specialist nurse.

PickledMumion · 06/07/2024 15:23

I'm prone to an over active bladder, and as I've got older I've found that caffeine in particular really aggravates it. I know other people who say the same even about alcohol, and even squash.

Strangely enough, sometimes not drinking enough can irritate your bladder. You could try drinking more water, and cutting out other drinks, and see if that helps.
