Gadget for mash?

I have limited strength and dexterity and can no longer use a potato masher. But my DC love mash. Is there a gadget or attachment to a gadget which can mash?!

I don't mean a manual potato ricer - just as much effort.

I mean like a cake mixer but for mashed potatoes!

Sainsburys frozen mash is the best mash ever.
Honestly try it.
I can't mash or use gadgets that hurt me.

Use an actual cake mixer!! Just a standard electric whisk. Squish them a bit first if you can else potato flies everywhere but honestly, just a regular cake whisk. My OH discovered it, works like magic, mash is soooo smooth and lush!

Just buy frozen, so much easier and they actually taste great. All you'll need to do is stir once they're heated up

The Lakeland Masha: www.lakeland.co.uk/18908/masha-electric-potato-masher

Sometimes have vouchers/discounts etc, have had one for years, was good for baby food etc too

Depending the age of your kids, can you put them to work? my 4yo loves mashing potatoes!

SleepingisanArt · 05/07/2024 20:55

You need the Masha it's brilliant! (Available in lots of places but Lakeland has a sale!) I've had one for over a decade and it's still going strong.

(NB: Idahoan packet mash is very good for topping pies and making rissoles)

I'm afraid I generally just scoop out halved baked potatoes and then use an electric hand mixer to mash them...

BunchOfKeylessKeys · 05/07/2024 23:42

The Masha looks good but I suspect the squeeze and hold bit will require more strength than I have.

I've never tried with just a cake mixer - didn't think it'd get them smooth. Will try it out!

I just use a hand held stick blender

Talipesmum · 05/07/2024 23:52

I find a blender makes them all gluey - tried it once and it wasn’t great.
Scooped out baking potatoes is good or, ready bought mash is actually fine - it’s not weird tasting, it’s just mash. But obv going to be more expensive.

thestudio · 05/07/2024 23:53

If you stick the beaters through a paper plate before pushing them into the motor but you can push the plate down so it acts as a lid on the bowl and stops the mash fro flying around too much.

HighOnMaiden · 05/07/2024 23:54

I use my kitchen aid!

LiterallyOnFire · 06/07/2024 00:00

That's why I switched to Idahoan packet mash. I was reluctant because I thought it would have that chemical taste that smash used to have, but it's perfect.
