Any experience of reflexology?

I had a 30 minute reflexology treatment yesterday, never had it before, wasn’t sure what to expect. Immediately afterwards I did feel relaxed and quite happy?! Today I don’t feel more energised or anything though, what should I expect after reflexology? Is it something where you need a few sessions to feel the benefit?

For me general feeling of feeling looser and relaxed - headache sometimes afterwards but think that’s the toxins being released - caffeine for me. I don’t find it’s dramatic or long lasting but love it all the same as a treat

Definitely a few sessions keep going with it

I love it. I don't believe all the stuff about it healing you, but it feels nice, and it always feels quite special to have someone focussing their attention on you completely for an hour (unless they are waxing you).

Random question but do you normally sit down or completely lie down for the treatment?!

Possibly ridiculous question but what do they do exactly?

I don’t think I slept any better than normal but the therapist was saying I would probably sleep really well?!

I do reflexology. It's best for clients to be lying down torso slightly elevated. I use my massage table. However, as long as you're comfortable & the therapist can work comfortably, do what's best for you. Ideally, you should go for 4-6 sessions to get the benefits. It's a 4000 year old eastern practice that has many health benefits, mental & physical.

The next day you tend to feel tired - drink lots of water, you will feel the benefits tomorrow or the next day.

Is a 30 minute treatment a bit short for any benefits, is more felt after an hour do you think? Just intrigued because it’s the first time I’ve had it no sure what I should expect to tell if it’s worked any magic?!

It didn't necessarily make me feel long-term better but it was gorgeous to lie there and have it done, and my lady, who sadly retired, would go through things she'd found and they were accurate. I went for one frivolous treat, just the once, and went back regularly until she retired.

For @Quisisana ,they massage your feet, the soles, and every part of your foot corresponds to a part of your body.

I absolutely love reflexology and until recently have had it once a fortnight (can't afford it now!)
@Cloud44 and @Quisisana my sessions were 1hr in length.
You lie on your back, face up. My (fab) therapist asks me how I am feeling, then wraps me in a heavy blanket&rubs my feet to warm them up. Then she wraps one up and pops it under while she works on the other one with oils. She uses pressure to press/massage points all over my foot, heel and ankle. Then she swaps over.
It is the most relaxing, nurturing feeling ever! Slightly painful at times (I have trouble with adrenals and a couple of other issues.) It's so weird - she can tell when she presses the corresponding areas!
The only annoying thing is it's so relaxing, I have to fight not to fall asleep as you feel you've missed out if you do!😂
