Can Jellycat soft toys be fluffed up again?

have a couple of jellycat dog soft toys that look quite shabby. Possibly putting them in the wash a while ago wasn’t a good idea. Is there a way to fluff them up/make them look a bit better?

(disclaimer: they are mine and I don’t have kids 😳😂)

Maybe try a cheap tangle tease style brush? You can get them for about £1 in home bargains or similar shops.

My mum was a soft toy maker, and she used to use brushes like these to brush out the seams on fur fabric toys and to smarten up old toys. I’m not sure what they are actually called - I’ve tried googling ‘wire brush’ but nothing like this came up, but you might find them in a craft shop if they’re still made - these two must be 50 years old!

Just used one to smarten up a bunny my mum made for DD over 30 years ago, so I can give it to DGD.

You can buy similar in hardware shops I think they attach to drills to strip paint .

You need a type of wire brush like this one for small pets.

Like @RustyBear says you need a nap brush. You can still buy them.

Also try googling 'teddy bear brush'.

Another vote for the wire pet brush, I have revived no end of tired cuddly toys like these, plus fleece jackets and zip ups, fluffy edges to coat hoods, sheepskin rug, sheepskin slippers etc and all have come out great - be gentle and work your way gradually and it will do a great job.

Oh brilliant, thanks so much everyone! I’ll try my dog’s brush first otherwise DIY shop or craft place.

@RustyBear that’s so cute ❤️

@Parsipsnoup my sister has a huge collection of them. She's but got kids either. I've got cabbage patch kids. But I envy her collection'

There's a hardware type shop in York that's super trendy - brown paper, candles etc - it has these type of brushes.
Wood, wire spikes. Kind of like a harrow .

I've just borrowed the dog's slicker brush and after 5 mins, I'm already getting results (and a confused dog)! Thanks so much for that tip. 😀 I've included before and after photos.
