French gift for dairy and gluten free?

Hi, I'm travelling in France and a bit stuck for a present for someone who is gluten, dairy and alcohol free. I don't have a huge budget. My executive functioning has run out and we're leaving tomorrow, so some ideas would be brilliant!

Nice soap. Look for a Fragonard if in a city. Something lavender based if in the south.

I’ve had the best alcohol free wines in France, much better than we have in the UK. They’re in most supermarkets.

NuffSaidSam · 30/06/2024 14:51

I was also going to say soap 😂

LunaNorth · 30/06/2024 14:52

Macarons?

LunaNorth · 30/06/2024 14:53

Nice olive oil?

FadedRed · 30/06/2024 14:53

Local (to you) jam/honey/preserves/pickles?
Does it have to be food? Could you get local glass, ceramics, lace or similar.
National Trust or similar heritage type of shop for coasters, place mats, calendar, tea-towels etc with local/national landmarks.

You can get lots of GF products in French supermarkets or other shops these days. Look for 'sans gluten' . Dairy free is 'sans produits laitiers'.
Le Petit Marseillais is a good range of shower gels, body, hair and hand wash products. They usually smell great (especially almond and neroli ) and make nice, inexpensive gifts.
Edited for spelling.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 30/06/2024 15:02

I’ve seen past posts where hand soaps and shower gels are recommended.

SGsling · 30/06/2024 15:03

Fois Gras?

Fois Gras?

Why does anyone still buy Foie Gras? Horrible

I was going to say Le Petit M products or lovely soap

A mixture of bottles of the French sirop drinks from any supermarket. I'd recommend lemon, grenadine, strawberry and orange as a starting place! Only a euro or two per bottle, so you can stretch as far as you like.

StormingNorman · 30/06/2024 15:30

They do lots of Haribo’s we don’t get here in the UK. Also, the soaps and shower gels others have mentioned. Or some regional produce like honey, olive oil or mustard.

Tighterthanmytrousers · 30/06/2024 16:45

Thanks everyone! I've clocked the random Haribo for the kids, the syrups sound like a winner. Sadly it'll be a supermarket job because we have such little time due to a doggo disaster (we are in the campervan).

Reine de Claude Syrup is to die for. The giant bottles of Eau de Toilette from the Super Marchet are fabulous. The tins of Confit Canard are worth smuggling home in your knickers.

more like so delicious.

But not for everyone and lots of other suggestions on the thread so no need for either of us to derail.
