What food do you keep in that you can eat any time?

I’m thinking what do you have to eat when you can’t get to the shops or can’t be bothered to plan in advance?

I was going to go shopping to make a roast dinner for me and teenage dc but they just said they don’t feel like that today. No point making it just for me so what do I have instead?! Also I don’t feel like shopping now if I can avoid it. I will rummage through the freezer and cupboards but wondering what you have that you can just rustle up?

We live 15 minutes from the nearest supermarket and I have a large chest freezer.

Could knock up quite a variety of meals.

Chicken Fajitas
Lasagne
Spaghetti Bol
Chicken breast Fillets - wrap them in bacon, or cook them in chicken tonight sauce
Homemade potato wedges, cauli cheese
Hot Dogs in Rolls with onions and cheese
Meatballs and spaghetti
Pasta - many varieties!

However if I just needed to cook a quick meal for myself then I'd probably just do egg and chips! Or spaghetti on toast.

Tins of no drain tuna, sun-dried tomatoes, jars of olives and capers, flatbread/pitta, hummus, tarama. You can get a tin of mixed beans salad from napolina that's good, but you must drain it first then add more olive oil and lemon juice.
Baked beans, tinned sweetcorn. Carrots tend to last quite a long time.
You can add those things to pasta, jacket potatoes or make 'pizza', or do a mezze plate/ massive salad.

Always have pizza and oven chips in the freezer further ‘can’t be bothered ‘ meals.

Pasta and pesto with frozen peas and any old green veg I can find in the fridge.

Toast with pate

Bowl of cereals or porridge.

I always keep plenty of canned beans, corn, and chickpeas, red and green lentils, tinned tomatoes, and tofu, as well as pasta and rice. From that I can make just about all of my favourite dishes whenever I fancy them: bolognese, chilli, curry, stir fries, stews, jambalaya, etc. Plus there's always "emergency" veg in the freezer in case I run out of fresh.
