Anyone else giving up vaping?

Smoked on and off from the ages of 17 to 35. Finally quit when pregnant with DD & didn't smoke again for 8 years. Had a series of stressful life events & started smoking again last year. Started vaping instead which is the worst thing I could've done- so much more addictive than smoking. I vape everywhere- places I would never smoke such as in my house and in my car. I vape all the time- when I wake up and in bed. I am absolutely sick of it and can't believe I've developed such a ridiculous new habit in my 40s.

Set my quit date at 1st July. Got some inhalators & nicotine tablets but eventually I want to he nicotine free. I still have quite a lot of stressful stuff going on and am trying to lose weight so I think trying to quit cold turkey will help too much for me.

Anyone in the same boat?

You are so right about it being more addictive than smoking. I smoked from age 26-37. Gave up when menthol fags were banned but replaced it with vaping. I wouldn't be able to go through the night without waking and having a few puffs. Would vape constantly- even when exercising.

I think with vaping it's the direct hit of nicotine that makes it so moreish. It's also being able to puff away absolutely anywhere that drags (ha) you in.

Anyway I finally managed to quit after 3 years heavy use when I got pregnant last year. It was hard but after about a week the cravings went completely. I'm trying hard not to pick the habit back up because, I hate to say it, I do miss it.

Good luck with quitting. When I tried cutting down a couple years back the patches definitely helped. I used to also taper it down by restricting myself to one puff every hour before going completely cold turkey. I'm not sure I definitely notice any obvious improvements but I suspect it was causing hormonal changes and I'm not as tired as I used to be. Could be coincidence but longer term probably better all around to quit

Well done! I know there's no definitive research (I'm aware of) that it's damaging but I just can't think any foreign bodies going into my lungs can't be damaging- that's why I'm not bothered either trying to go nicotine free. I'm also sick of being addicted, spending money on it etc. I love those stupid disposables too that the kids love in the sweet flavours. But I'm 44!

By nicotine free I mean nicotine free vaping.

It was costing me £30 per week at one point as I used to buy the juices. I try not to think of everything I could have bought with that money. And yep, I'm in my 40s and loved the disposable ones that the youth love too! I think wanting to quit is half the battle so you're half way there. I just have a feeling that I'll crumble sooner or later...
